Facebook declares war on spammers?

To my big surprise to my home address i got a letter from Perkins Coie,company that has recently received a litigation against spammers on Facebook Sanford Wallace $711 million.
This is just briefly from me:

We represent Facebook,Inc based in Palo Alto,California.It has come to our attention that you are:

1.Create multiple or fake accounts on Facebook.
2.Sending unsolicited commercial email messages ( spam ) through the facebook network to facebook users.
3.Creating multiple groups for the sole purpose of furthering your spamming and scraping scheme.
4.Using personal profiles for commercial gain.
5.Stop using automated means such as scripts or scrapers without Facebook permission.

Facebook demands that you immediately cease and desist this activity.
Your activity is illegal,fraudulent and violates Facebook s statement of rights and responsibilities.

Should you choose to ignore this letter or continue your current improper conduct,facebook will take necessary measures to enforce its rights,maintain the quality of its site,and protect its users.

yeah thats why you shouldn't ever spam domains registered in your name, or paid for with a credit card in your name.

I think it must be more than that. Otherwise I could use facebook to spam my competitors website with proxy support. And he would get a problem.
 
I think I will today delete all facebook profiles,6 profiles with 5000 friends :ouch:
I do not want to risk because I do not want a lawsuit ....
 
Holy shit.. lol. I'm really considering closing all my Facebook accounts now.

Any ideas people?
 
Hmm, have you registered anything in your name?
Have you entered your home address anywhere on facebook?

Anyone closing accounts can sell them to me :)

Do make sure to respond to the C&D though, ignoring it is not really an option as it will only get you into more trouble.

Respond what? I will delete all the fake profile.
Now I read the new U.S. spam law but i live in Europe and...i don t know :confused:
 
Perkins and Cole also represent Craiglist. I have gotten C&Ds from them multiple times.

If you are going to continue, try to cover your tracks a little better.
 
how did they get to know ur address at first place, if u havn't been specifically noted in ur facebook profiles?

No,I don t have my real facebook account with my name and home address.
 
WTF? I can understand the sending of unsolicited private messages part being construed as illegal and spam, but since when is creating multiple accounts, groups and spamming wall posts illegal??? Are they serious?

How many PM's were you sending out a day???

I mean, wtf? And even the PM's is just such BS, these people have essentially opted in by adding you as a friend and they can opt out anytime by blocking you. Were you just sending messages to every tom dick and harry?

I mean this shit is scary... I just started a FB capaign and I'm adding hundreds of friends a day, I have multiple accounts and using my home IP since I don't see how it could be construed as spam because I'm not PM'ing anyone other than those who are on my friends list aside from the initial invitation message.

FB needs to calm the fuck down...
 
But then again with a name like facebook-girl I can just imagine the amount of spam and chaos you've unleashed on there :D
 
Look this point 5:

These all use,so we are all spammers?
script for select all friends and invite in groups and pages.

I never sent private messages to the inbox or e-mail,only invitation for groups people on my friend list.
