There's not much point in selecting audiences directly, as Facebook can find the right people at the right time. Your targeting is mostly about narrowing down the audience. Like avoiding showing USA ads in Uganda or a beard care kit to women.
And even that's not 100% accurate, because a woman might buy a beard care kit for her husband or dad.
With the latest Andromeda release, it works even more precisely than ever.
So, the suggestion is to let Zuck (the AI algorithms) decide when and to whom to show your ad.
Facebook considers the audience in two phases:
- BEFORE your ad launches, it looks at:
- The targets YOU chose (narrowing suggestions)
- What's in your creatives (it understands what the picture or video is about, believe me)
- What's on your landing page (what the BOT sees there)
- AFTER the ad gets views, it adjusts the audience based on:
- How people interact with the ad (stopping to scroll, watch time, clicks, reactions, shares, etc.)
- How long users spend on your landing page and their behavior there (most people open your landing in an internal browser)
- What people say in your COMMENTS
With that last part, you can nudge the algorithm in the "right" direction by adding YOUR own comments in services like Comdrop. It's called post trendsetting, where your comments spark discussions and steer them the way you want.
Examples:
- Under your post, you only have people saying it's a scam and how to report it.
- There are comments with questions like how to get your product and whether delivery is free.
Guess which ad Facebook will show to whom.
