F$%KING "thankyou" posts

yeah seasmood has a point in that if we don't make worthless thank you posts, we don't know if people liked the post or not.

the rep works for the person who posted, but for the other forum members, we have to guess without the worthless thank you posts

That's exactly it.

If someone posts a file, book, technique, whatever, and there aren't any other messages below it... how would anyone know whether or not it's worth a damn? Are the multiple "Thanks, I'm using this right now" posts worse than a page full of "Has anyone reviewed this yet?"

Also, the good and popular threads will fall off the front page if people don't say anything past the initial post. Stuff like the solid info articles Diamond Dave has been posting up don't usually have room for anyone to add anything useful except "Wow, thanks for sharing". But what else could we post?

Is it part of the joke that I am missing, or am I the only one who has a thanks button here?

Does anyone know if using the "Thanks" button works to keep "the good and popular threads" from falling off the front page? Seems likely it would.
