While I agree with the narrative of avoiding any commercial holidays, the worst thing that can happen is when your significant other receives a call from her best friend/mom/grandmom and they ask "What did he get you for v-day?" and you will hear a sad but clearly fake cheerful of "Ah nothing, we do not celebrate this day, I even didn't expect anything".
As with most holidays, it's not about you but your family. It's about your other half this time, why not use the day to just do something nice?
Take care of them well. Even if you don't like some of the celebrations or holidays that are forced by media and capitalism.
I tell this after just spending a hefty chunk of hard-earned euros for a lap full of dead plants and a 4 AM drive.
And chocolate donuts from gas station which she loves so much but avoids because of diet stuff.
I agree 100% with this. Maybe you don't celebrate it, but a relationship consists of two people and therefore its not just all about you, but the other person as well. And if it makes her happy so what?
