I agree with Mudbutt. When I first heard of someone doing something like this I thought it was messed up too...but then I realized, now after doing these type of things MYSELF for people (with the help of IM money)....that it really changes the lives of both parties involved. In a positive way! That homeless man will never forget what these kids did for him. I guarantee it. It's up to him (the homeless guy) now to decide how he is going to live the rest of his life. Because someone bestowed this type of kindness upon him, he may just decide that he deserves better than making $8 in 5 hours and insist on finding a job that allows him to work full time (he's probably a veteran) or to become an entrepreneur by selling his skills as a mechanic or whatever. These kids also feel like they're giving back to the community by paying for clothes and whatnot for a homeless guy who had only hours earlier felt hopeless. It's good karma for the kids, makes the homeless guy feel good and gives him hope. It's a win-win for everyone involved. How is this a bad thing??? People give to charities all the time.... The World Wildlife Fund. The Humane Society. Breast Cancer Research. Scholarships for disadvantaged kids.... How is giving money to those organizations any different than helping a guy on the street have a good night sleep and get a shower for a couple of nights? So what if these kids document it on Youtube, or ABC, or Oprah or whatever. That doesn't mean their intentions were not genuine and sincere. Really?? I mean....come on OP....

I didnt even watch it. I don't like seeing the homeless exploited even if it is to their benefit. I had to live in a taxi for 2 weeks. It was horrible. I can not imagine how the streets are.

The difference is, if you donate to those organizations more than likely no one will know and you are doing it because you want to help. How can anyone say motive doesn't matter just because they did a good thing and disregard that they threw him back on the street when they got what they came for? Sure it was a nice gesture but if he came out and outright said "I did it for fame and I could care less about homeless people" how would you people that say "who cares about his motives" feel then?

Like Duffers5000 said "A good deed that you profit from is not a good deed it's business"

Those big charities on tv normally have a CEO that makes $xxx,xxx a year and paid staff which is understandable but overall it is a business. Would you give praise to someone who works at one of those charities and said "I just work there because the pay is good" or someone who says "I took a pay cut to work here because I want to help the homeless"?

Very interesting thread. I agree he probably was doing it just for the fame, and its disgusting thats he's exploiting the homeless just for views on youtube. To be optimistic though, I hope that those who do see the video are inspired enough to get out and help those in need in their own local areas.

I think what everyone is trying to say, that disagree with the videos motives is:

Our generation already only behaves nicely when it's for their own glory, not many people do things for the pure act of kindness. People have to gain something out of everything, he's just an example of that. Do you know how many people genuinely do what this man did only 100x more, and never get recognized by the public?

Improve someones life for nothing in return, you gain something few people ever experience.

Save someones life in a clown suit, suddenly everyone knows about you.

Well it's very simple. He maybe makes money out of this. More than the $400 or so he spent with the homeless dude. Maybe he's an asshole too. Maybe he has some issues and yeah maybe the fact he glorifies himself online is a subject he should discuss withh his shrink. However those are his problems not yours or mines. At the end of the day, the homeless guy got some new clothes, boots, a backpack, food, a haircut, and 2 nights in a bed + shower. So it doesnt fukken matters if the producers make $1mil from the homeless' guy's back. It's a win-win. For the homeless dude that was a lot of shit he got out of the experience. Not just materially but mentally too - got 2 days in the hotel so he doesn't have to worry where he sleeps, maybe even sit down and think of what he could do after the 2 days to get out of the shit life he's in. Also he probably feels that he can pull through, that the Universe/God/whatever isn't entirely against him, that he's lucky, etc. So, as I said, it's a win-win.

Very true! But not everybody understands that or will do that or will experience what that gives. In the end I'm happy for the homeless guy and the problems the producers have are theirs.

Well said my friend....if their intentions were not pure, karma is a bitch and it will come back to bite them in the ass later, ya know? That's on them. No need for anyone here to get sore and think badly of them because they *THINK* the guy was being exploitative and an ass.... In reality, the negative nancy's in this thread have no idea wtf was going on in that guy's head... and should just see the glass as have full (looking at things in a positive light) instead of half empty (putting him on the show was an exploit, and now the homeless guy is ruined forever and the dude that bought him clothes is an ass). It is what it is. Dude is happy for helping homeless guy. Homeless guy is happy cause he's stress free for a couple of nights. Network is happy cause they're getting views and paid because the show was being broadcast to lots of people....people watching feel inspired to go out and do something similar.... EVERYONE's HAPPY!! What's bad about that?

The homeless wasn't exploited, and you didn't know that because you didn't watch the video lol.. Also, if you lived in a taxi for 2 weeks, did you use the taxi for some income?

It is quite obvious that he's doing it for fame & virality , he also look like the greedy type as it is so obvious " i was a douche bag in my videos but i want to show you im a nice person " .Also he got like $8k more than worth the surgery for the poor guy which he sure will put in his own pocket .
But lets have a look at the bright side of it , a poor man got some help and all the spectators got an idea of how good deeds can be done .
