Hey y'all. I've been browsing this forum for close to two years, but I'm just now getting around to joining. I'm fresh out of college and hungry for cash.
I started a web dev company my first year of college, and it took off. Through a series of acquisitions, smart hiring decisions, and a bit of luck I ended up building a pretty successful business by the time I left school. I brought in a few business partners, bought a small repair firm and a small mobile app firm, used student labor, and discovered the goldmine that is a college town. I had a blast doing it, and I'm proud to say that the company is thriving in their new 4,800 sqft location with a staff of twelve. I just sold my share of the company when I accepted a position in Indianapolis making twice as much. I think I just about broke even on my investments versus what I got from selling my share.
Now I'm looking to start a new web dev oriented company in my free time using some of the tactics I've been reading about here over the last two years. I'm not interested in finding long-term projects that will refine and enhance my skills, as was my goal with my original company. I've got a day job that I love. I'm just looking to develop a company that can be outsourced and operate without my constant attention and still produce a comfortable, constant revenue stream. It doesn't have to grow rapidly and I'm not looking for it to take over my career.
I've got two car payments, rent, student loans, a wedding and a honeymoon to pay for this year. While I make plenty of money in my day job to cover all of that, I'm not left with much to play with at the end of the day. This is where this business comes into play. I want is to be able to go to Chipotle and always order an extra side of guac without hesitation. You know what I mean?
So, that's why I'm here! I'm looking forward to actually have conversations with all of you, rather than just stalking the forums silently.
