Expired Domain 301 Redirection

Hello guys
I have purchased an expired domain with good metrics that I am planing to redirect to my money site.
Is there any advice you can give me? Is it better to wait a week or 2 before making the 301 redirection to check if Google indexed my expired domain?

No SEO value unless you redirect the domain's old URLs to existing URLs.

Google considers redirects to the home page a soft 404... don't do that either.

Pointing domains at your website usually doubles up your bot traffic... make sure you can handle the extra load without the site slowing down too much.

If your rankings fall through the floor keep in mind it might be related to why someone else let it go have building good metrics for it.
