Excessive Hoarding, Are You Guilty?

I'm the opposite. I HATE having too much stuff and I rarely feel like I have to hold on to certain things. I throw so much away.

ebook after ebook, i think i have about 200 ebooks on the stockmarket.. 50 on health fitness, PDF magazines etc

I am the exact opposite of a hoarder. I clear out anything I don't need and anything I think I don't need. If I haven't used it in the last three months or it isn't contributing to a purpose, it gets sold, given away, or tossed. It makes me really think when I buy stuff though because of that reason. :)

I was for years. I hoarded everything as a child. My room was filled with every school jotter, all my childhood toys and all sorts of trinkets.

Then my "stepmother" came into my room one day when I was at work and literally binned everything. Right down to my window blinds because they were " old ".

My Dad then proceeded to remove every single trace of my mother from the home so I lost a lot of valuable pictures, ornaments, and such.

Because of this I have let go of everything and now clear about 7 bin bags of shit every few months. My house looks unlived in. I suppose its good incase I need to move, Im only worrying about clothes and furnature.

That's kind of a dick move of your dad and your stepmother.

Yes well hes a weird person. lol I didn't love his new wife ( he met her 2 months after my Mum died, they were still together when she died ) but I stayed out of their way. But her reason for clearing out all of my cupboards and drawers was because I was 16 and should be leaving soon anyway so my room was going to be her " sewing room " bwhaha

Being 16 and highly strung none of this went down well as you can imagine.

But I have survived without all of those things so now I dont see the need to keep anything really. And a small boiler flood in my private let destroyed the last of my family pictures so I now have nothing left of sentimental value and can be rid of anything easily now.

I would be very different if I still had all of those old things from my childhood. Maybe a real hoarder so maybe I secretly want to thank that pair of wankers for throwing everything out.

But I never will. :)

In my partial defense, I do PAD submissions, so plugins, themes, and software that I can rebrand is always of use. Never know which niche you might have, and I tend to save these that I can find for the PADs so I can find something related to my offline customers businesses.

The problem is finding anything worth a damn to use. Sometimes I just have to build a game or puzzle.

Right now I need a plr concrete estimator and a reverse mortgage calculator, if anyone knows where I can get one.

I don't keep e-books though, or PLR articles.

yeah Tetrabyte hard drives were the worst thing that happen to my data hoarding habit since i got broadband internet in 2000. By Data i mean ebooks, templates, appz,HD movies,HD Seasons of shows and of course HD pron.

I hoard PDF books from Wowee books. All sorts of books on Drupal, PHP, Marketing, Business, you name it! Though I do read a lot of them, there's just a bunch that I would never read and just downloaded for the sake of downloading.

i have a garage full of electronics and boxes full of computer parts. I use to go from yard sale to yard sale collecting stuff. sometimes I hi the jackpot when i sell it on ebay but yea, i got to clean my garage out. I like buying used stuff just because

i used to hoard pictures of porn, extreme gore, animal abuse, exicutions, death, etcetc. But i came to my senses.

I an obsessive compulsive declutterer. I do keep a hearty supply of food storage though.

My husband hoards books, CDs and DVDs which drives me insane since they can all be found for FREE online and take up no additional space when transferred to the ipod or kindle. If you are going to hoard items only hoard those which cannot be stored digitally.

Very very confusing. So you are vexed because what he hoards shouldn't be hoarded at all? But isn't the same could be said of all hoarding? Please clarify.

I used to hoard music/dvds. I went through this odd phase in my life where I had to pirate everything I could lay my hands on. I had over 100GB of music 95% I didn't even like or listen to. I would rip DVDs left and right. If they touched my hands they were getting copied. Eventually I got so paranoid the FBI was gonna be knocking down my door any day that I deleted everything, trashed the hard drives, broke the DVD's into many pieces. I just couldn't take it anymore...

I've since overcome my compulsion to hoard and pirate things. The biggest help for me was when I found Pandora & Netflix. I realized there was no need to pirate stuff. Frankly it was a waste of countless hours of my time. Now I just pay a few bucks a month and have all the music and movies I could ever want.

There are a lot of things that can be stored digitally. Those should not be stored in their old-fashioned physical forms, like CDs, especially when he has an ipod, internet radio receiver, satellite radio and the only CD player he has is on the computer. Why have the CD when you need to play it on the computer to hear it? Or a DVD when you have to play it on the computer to watch it? It makes no sense and it is a waste of money and space.

You are being harsh on him. What if the hard drive fail and he lose everything?
