So this is my first post from a series of 'how to' posts that I am going to develop for BHW. I made this post to help anyone who wants to start using VLOOKUP in excel and doesn't know where to start. I have personally benefited from using VLOOKUP function on excel to fetch data from complicated data sets. So I sincerely hope this will benefit you guys.

I have used a sample scenario to help illustrate better:

Let me know what you all think and I have more to follow soon ;)

P.S. Anyone looking for specific help in EXCEL can leave me a tutorial request here:

We will try and get them done ASAP. Thanks!

Tutorials are always good. Can you make one that shows how to pull information off of a website database using excel?

Sure thing! I just set up a form to collect requests such as yours here:
    http://www.contentyogi.com/seo-tools/request-tutorial/

Can you leave me a description on what is needed in the form?

    Thanks a bunch..!

Excel is great for IM. I use it for text manipulation, filtering and all kinds of stuff all the time.

Most people only learn Excel in a job though.
