Exact Match URL On Exact Match Domain

Google splapped Exact Match Domain. Very hard to get page one for exact match domain but if I use exact match anchor for interpage on a exact match domain like exactmatch.com/exactmatch/ to SEO the exactmatch keyword. Does google still count I use exactmatch domain for the page?

I did that on mine website and linking a contextual link from root page to the interpage and see google rank the page to top 60 and out rank the root page to nowhere. (The root page have rank higher before)

I'm thinking to add unique content to the interpage and optimized it, I think that will help my ranking higher than before.

Can I fix the EMD problem with that or go to brand domain?

Hope you'll understand my question because my english is very bad. :p

Who said Google slapped exact match domains? Let me see....hotel.com is slapped?
Cheap tickets.com is ranked first for 1.000.000 searches (in USA alone) for exact KW....I don't see them slapped

there are old and nature websites, I think new emd website will need more time and harder to optimize right way. I bought the domain because I like it but I'll never use emd on my future websites.

There is nothing "nature" about travel/ticket booking sites, trust me. I was working for one exact match domain in travel industry...their link profile is ludicrous and they are on spot No1 for KW with 300.000 (US searches.)
 
The whole "EMds are not looked upon favorably by Google" is a myth perpetrated by the guys that relied solely on the domain name and not by any other method of any substance to rank their sites.
 
If your exact match domain got slapped, then it was either a manual action or your domain got slapped for another reason as there's ton of EMDs still dominating Google search result pages.
 
Google penguin 3.0 updated and more EMD got hit, what happen on the next updates? I think brand domain is easier now and the future. I'm still not be slapped, I ranked brand websites, this is my first emd website, I never used EMD before.

In short:

1) Everything is an EMD of something. So EMD's cannot be penalized on those grounds.

2) EMD.com/emd is worse than EMD.com -- as you now have the keyword in the url string twice which puts you more at risk for over optimization.
 
EMDs did not get hit.

They just lost their extra power, you usded to get a SEO bonus for the exact match, now you don't. Just like the description is nowadays.

There is no "hit" or penalty associated with an EMD.

Having your keyword in the URL is alwys going to be good for SEO.
 
They can't penalize emd, they can only make less favor for emd.

e.g "bestadjustabledumbbell"
they still ranking between serp 1~3.
 
Having an EMD on its own does not trigger any sort of penalty, obviously.

But it is very clear from my own experiments that it is one factor that can add towards an over optimization penalty.

If you have an EMD, the page optimized for that keyword and exact match anchors, then this (along with whatever other factors Google are looking at) could result in a penalty. It's an extra red flag that points towards an attempt to game the SERPS, particularly if it is multiple words like bestvacuumcleanersreviews

In general, I would say that you have to be a lot more careful with building exact match anchors to a relatively new site with low Domain Authority and trust if you have an EMD. I think the tipping point for a penalty is a lot lower than if you have a branded domain name.

Personally, I've stopped using EMD's. They don't give you as much extra benefit as they used to, and when it is clearly one potential factor in over optimization, I don't think it's worth it anymore. But as always, there will be situations that will be exceptions.
 
EMD was a big factor in ranking (and still is but not so big already...) But it's only a factor. If your site is shit, EMD won't save it. But if your site is great, EMD will give you just another sweet bonus.
 
EMDs will always get a bonus, Google knows they catch a premium price wise, so any site on an EMD domain is bound to be very relevant
