Ok, here it is, and I'm GIVING IT AWAY. Just, fill in the blanks... I should keep this hush since I'm near-suicide-type-broke with valid excuses for not having a "real job". Remember me. Someone.

1: Start catchy URL shortening service.

2: Get affiliates promoting with it (offer deluxe stat tracking, fool)

3: Start changing the links to be yours, swap them back and forth. Robbing 1,000s of affiliates 1/100 sales is huge.

4: Watch clickbank bitches bitch about how CB is shaving them, when it is really you (just like it is Really tinyurl etc)

5: Profit.

This is already being done online.

That is not evil, and Harro has probably already tried it. I think it would work but imagine how long it would take to get a lot of people using the service. Once they see that theyre links are screwed they wont even use it
 
That's why you wait. Until someone (a group of maybe 10 decent affiliates) has some really good traffic going through, and you snatch it. And no, they won't notice. Do you? Or do you actually think clickbank is shaving? Because it is not clickbank, it is the URL services. :P

SOme of them are set up with the sole purpose of being able to control links - he who shortens the link controls the web.

Some are created with the sole purpose of breaking links later, as well.

LOL and nothing is more evil, nothing that I have ever encountered.

Hey I don't condone robbing anyone or anything but it's pretty interesting that you suggest URL shortening services may be doing this. Have you ever seen any evidence of this happening? For example, have you ever shortened a ton of links and then checked them in a month or two to see if they were all functional?

It just seems to me that if a major url service were doing this then someone who was anal about checking "working links" would eventually notice and word would spread like wildfire.
 
I'm sorry, but this method sucks. It won't work, and will be found out quickly. I've never had a problem with TinyURL and I've made well over 500 links through them, all leading to MY affiliate link.

sorry for the short post .. i know it's not cool.... but i LOVE the title :)))))) ... btw.. this might work... but instead of robbing the aff's ... you could limit their urls to let's say 10 ... and after that make them donate $5 :)))) or ... limit their bandwith somehow and the same... send them an e-mail prior to this... you have exceeded the bw limit.. please donate $5 to use our cool service :cool2: ... mod the script to have a members area where they can see how many hits they get and that's the go.. as a matter of fact i might try this :D ...

I don't think this will work since there are a lots of shortening services available for free already. I f you plan on making people pay you need to offer something that other don't.

well you give them the members area, let's say 1 Gb BW ( it is more than enough :) ) + some package let's say ... when they get x amount of visitors you give them 5k traffic FREEE ( plenty of autosurfs out there :))) <- of course with their short url shortened again by u :D:D ) -> u could ask for $1 / monthly subscription or something ...


and add some url rotator ( i have plenty of scripts for that ) and u just get those 1 million free hits websites to show up ur rotator ( good thing is you can place ads / banners / whatever in the url rotator )

wtf ... you can find plenty of things that u can do... i've got these down just by typing in here while i'm holding my but cheeks together... damn more "inspiration" coming :D:D:D

The only problem I can see with this method is that 99.99999% of the people using your service will be freekin n00bs who dont make any affiliate money anyway :)

The problem here is that any decent affiliate uses TLD redirects and not short URLs.
