You think there will be more or less bots on the platform once it costs money versus being free? Obviously significantly less.
I think the idea is actually excellent. Will dramatically reduce the number of bots and spam almost immediately.
Once he turns on (which I think is probable), message filtering, ie you can set your account to only see content posted by users with a blue tick, the quality of the content on the platform skyrockets. Will engage a tonne more users.
Twitter content right now is a steaming dumpster fire of bullshit, dramatic changes needed and that's what we're getting.
I don't see any downside to the takeover at all.

Do not get confused. To get the Twitter blue tick (verification badge) people (service providers / sellers) charge US$7000 (or so). The US$8 or so refers to Twitter Blue subscriptions which are charged (paid) on a monthly basis, or in other words, the US$8 or so refers to maintaining the Twitter Blue status by paying US$8 or so monthly and NOT for getting the Twitter Blue status.

Now top accounts get hundreds of spam comment - same comment posted by hundreds of bot accounts.
Quality or motivation to post on a platform having such spam bots, can chase many top accounts to post on another platform.
Time will tell.

Would make sense and both would profit if they marketed Twitter as the go to social platform for crypto industry.
Compared to fb and ig that are known to suspend or shadowban crypto niche accounts.
