To be honest, i didn't watch the entire video. But i'll comment on your text.
I agree. It's not only BHW but also other social media sites (Reddit is a good example as well). It seems to me that people don't like to leave their comfort zone anymore. And for a lot of people leaving the comfort zone also means leaving the house and doing something else besides their regular schedule. Almost seems like robotic behaviour to me

.
Unfortunately thats what it seems like. And i've been there. I've had a time in my life where i was completely cut off from my social circle and it's not as bad actually, until you realize in your head that you actually don't have a social circle anymore.
One major problem i also see in the current society is that people are very secretive and sensitive about everything. I am not sure how it is in other countries (maybe its way better in US), but here in Germany when you are talking to a stranger you are being looked at as some kind of weirdo. Unless you are of course at a party and drunk because "Hey, everyone can be socially active when they are drunk". Literally 80% of the population here (In Germany) have a giant stick up their ass and are socially fucked. And i am not the only one that thinks like that.
And its usually the younger generation that have the stick up their ass. I can talk normally with an older person in the gym for 3 minutes straight, but when i talk to some younger people they'll always give me a short answer and just walk away lol.
