I bought an expired domain the other day for the first time. Did the usual, changed the nameservers to my hosting and through cpanel, got wordpress on there. Thing is, i cant access wordpress to start building the site. It just directs me to a godaddy page when i put in the domain url or the url/wp-admin. I have spoke to my hosting several times as well as Godaddy . The DNS has propagated and as far as they can see, the url should take me to my site. This tells me it must be something to do with my internet. I have tried clearing cache in my browsers, running ccleaner, flushing the dns and rebooting my modem several times. It did allow me to get to the wordpress dashboard once last night but kicked me back to the godaddy page after a few minutes. Iv actually just switched my mobile over to 3g there to try and it is taking me to the site no bother. Hoping someone has had this problem before and can tell me a few things to try. Im no expert when it comes to hosting etc so im not even sure whether it could be an issue at there end. Been trying to sort this for 2 days now and no idea what to try next. Any help really appreciated guys

This is the url of the godaddy page it directs to:

mysite.com/?reqp=1&reqr=

Weird

No web, i switched my phone over to 3g and it works though

Then it could be ISP problem. I had a problem accessing my website, most of the time it was inaccessible. After some support tickets exchange and live chat, they told me to enable cloudflare service, and since then I have no problem.

Thanks for the tip. My hosting told me that someone had tried to bruteforce it but nobody got in apparently so thinking something like that could have happened.

so is it working now ?
BTW, who would brute-force a newly set up website ? lol

Its not working no. I have other sites on that hosting although they appear to be running ok

If it works on your phone then theres nothing wrong with the site or the hosting. Are you running the one browser on your machine ? If you have the space to download another browser try that to see if its loading ok.

Yes that is either your PC cache issue or your ISP not updating DNS cache. Force your PC to go to your web host by modifying your hosts file.
Find out the IP address of where your site is hosted and add that to the hosts file.
If it's a Windows PC: C:\windows\systems32\drivers\etc\hosts just a simple text file edit, add a new line with the format ip address domain name.

If MAC OS try www dot tekrevue.com/tip/edit-hosts-file-mac-os-x/ sorry can't post links...

I do it all the time when I'm impatient and don't want to wait for propogation.

Hi Duffers. Yeah iv tried other browsers. Speaking to my hosting again to see if they can do anything. When i type in this stuff thats appearing after my domain url -
?reqp=1&reqr= to google people are mentioning dns hijacking haha

Just seeing this stv. il try it now

It worked !!. Thanks very much stvmn.
