Had a client I was tasked with acquiring backlinks for their site.
Everything was going well, till one day someone who claims to be the owner of a site I have guest post published on, sent a mail to my client using the official support email available on their website. Saying he had published 'the' guest post but haven't been paid. If payment is not made he would delete the link bla bla bla.
Threatened my client that all communications must be through that same gmail he used to send which was something like [email protected].
This guest post has been live a couple of months and payment was made in full, I just told my client it's probably a scam as he forwarded the mail to me. I also contacted the publisher/owner of the site.
Have you or someone you know been in same or similar situation? How was it handled or how did it turn out?
