Google got all these trained monkeys to upload millions of hours of videos by dangling money in front of them and convincing advertisers that YouTube was the ultimate roi for ad money.
The big payouts were basically just google buying content and ensuring the brand YouTube got etched into the minds of a new generation by convincing monkeys to upload content for them.
They don't need to pay the monkeys as much anymore because their goal has been achieved. Soon you'll pay to upload your videos if you want them to be seen and then pay to watch channels as a subscriber.
