What would you suggest?
40 Web 2.0s with 1 article each?
Or , say, 10 web 2.0s with 4 articles each?
If the second one, should all the articles have links to your site or only one of them? Should they target different keywords?

In my own experience, the site ranked very well with a link to a popular site like amazon

Hi,
I was actually considering using your service more recently to try to take this to the next level. Since you brought it up, I'll take you up on your offer. You seem confident in your product. Drop me a PM and I'll put together the "stage 2" of this case study.
Rankings have slipped a bit. By a bit I mean 5/10 positions. To be expected I assum.
If you honestly want to know what I suggest, I would go with the more legit web 2.0's. 1 article on a web 2.0 with a link to your site and wikipedia literally SCREAMS spam to me. I'm sure Google feels the same way. No need to skimp on the articles. Make them informative. Link naturally. Link to other sites. Link to yours. Think what a "normal" web 2.0 blog would look like. Build yours accordingly.
My main restrictions here are checking the rankings. I have 100 web 2.0s. I have 25 search terms. Doing the math, that's a heck of a lot of terms to check for manually. If anyone knows a quicker way to check this, please let me know. I really need to know this... it's literally what this case study is hanging up on.

To answer your question personally I use rank tracker to monitor rankings of my money sites, PBN sites, and web 2's. It has a nifty keyword suggestion tool for KW research in it as well, but isnt free or cheap even (depending on what cheap means to you). Serp book would also work for monitoring your rankings if you already know all your KW's and can afford the monthly bill.

Quick update... stage 2 of this case study is just about ready to come together. I have 3 service providers lined up for the Tier 2 services - just working on the last one. Going to be a little more expensive... $100+ per test group. But hopefully with dramatic results.

Great study case! I was using the same service as you mentioned in Group 4 as well. Bought it for couple times but many links were removed thus effecting the ranking for tier 1. Let me know how's on your side?

Hey,
Rankings have definitely slipped for all the services. I've just finished an update of all rankings so I can proceed with stage 2. I'll go into more detail when I post the next case study but basically it looks like this...
1) Rankings have slipped for all services.
2) Worst performing at this point is group 1. I wouldn't pay for them again.
3) Best performing at this point is group 4. Followed by group 3. Group 2 finally showed up to the party, but is truly weak.
4) Google is in love with Tumblr.
That's a quick overview from my end without any kind of serious analysis.

I have really enjoyed this case study like some folks before me said this is why i come to BHW...i think it time you link these properties to your money site..i think they have aged a bit so it will be interesting to see ehat kind of rankings will they bring...
also a nice split test will be to see linking power of web 2.0 that is ranking vs. The ones that dont rank but have some nice boost in tier 2..
cant wait to see you earning some $ as a result of your efforts with these case studies..

Quick update for those following. I've carried this case study forward with some FREAKING EPIC results. Tested 5 more ADVANCED/expensive services from here on BHW and we're starting to see a payoff. I was ranking before for exact match, and now we see broad match keywords showing up... check this picture. Tracking the top 20 keywords from this category...
As you can see my Web 2.0's have decided to join the party for some broad match keywords - appearing quite nicely on the second page.
Keep an eye out I'm going to be pushing a final report out in a little more than a month!

I have two quick questions.
1. You said you make more posts on each web 2.0, not just 1 post with a backlink to the money site. If I'll create a web 2.0, make 3-4 articles without any link, then one article with a link to my money site, that would be fine?
2. Also, not sure if I understood right, for those 100 web 2.0's you used Pogiboys or RankWyz? Which one would you recommend?
