Uruguay has some power in attack and England has a good defense. It might be a draw tonight. They might end up to cancel each other...

That's where my money is to. If we had a stronger midfield id say 2:0, but as it stands I cannot see us lasting 90 minutes without conceding at least one goal.

The reason I like Rooney is that you know he will put the work in on the pitch (nowadays anyway) and that he is capable of pulling off some absolute brilliance at times.

It depends on formation, but I'd start Lambert maybe and then hope that Rooney comes on all guns blazing.
 
If England play like they did against Italy and they have a bit more to offer in the last 20 minutes then they should win it comfortably.

but you never know with England eeeeeeeeeeekkk!!!

I really hope that is not the case, but it will lead to a very exciting final game on Tuesday. That's assuming that the Italy and Costa game doesn't end in a draw.
 
Welbeck should start on left where Rooney did and wazza should play in his preferred position which is the centre of the field...
 
England have a chance but based on how the British media over hypes every team England play turning a Uruguay game into a England Vs Brazil based on that I reckon England will draw or bow out because the British media for some weird reason is good at knocking it's own countries confidence than actually rearing them on to win lol.. cannot wait to see Alan shearers match analysis afterwards pointing out how England just were not 'good enough'.. :P

True...there has been so much bad behaviour in this world cup though. It's really bad. I can't condone it. Diving, pretending to be hurt, timewasting, walking off the pitch so slow you get overtaken by a sloth...ive seen it in practically every game and it all really makes me mad.

I'm one of those who have a forgotten approach to sportsmanship and the game though. Fight fair and to the death!
 
I wiill be cheering for any team that plays against Uruguay, I really hope that Suarez is going to be send home, it is the worlds most disgusting player and i hate him with a unhealthy passion :)

I'd personally start Lallana in the middle of the park, Sterling on the right and Welbeck on the left. I'd also think about starting Lambert instead of Sturridge, he is one of the most lethal strikers in terms of finishing and then can assist the wingers aswell. I also think that Rooney and Sturridge on second half could run rings around a tired Uraguay.

I agree with everything you've said. There is a diving pandemic across the whole of football, Muller's dive was embarrassing for his nation.

I really don't get what the press have to gain by slating England whenever possible... They may sell a few more papers to a small minority of disgruntled customers but they lose the attention and respect of many more.

Very true. I would love to know if this is something that occurs outside of the UK. Do other countries have unquestionable support for their players? I honestly don't know. It is awful that many people now see it as a national trait and part of being English to moan.

I can't see the public of Germany for example, putting up with the same kind of articles that we have to regarding our international team. This is a big part of the problem as all of the fans back home get right behind the team and yet they see papers showing the minority of fans with a chip on their shoulder. It is awful, but it's just the same as some people associate Americans with Arrogance... A lot of the time it is an un-founded generalisation.
 
I don't think the result matters too much for England, as I believe that Italy will win their remaining 2 games. This means that England can afford to lose tonight, and still qualify by beating Costa Rica (Possibly by 2 goals depending on goal difference).

Whatever happens tonight, England are most likely going to have to beat Costa Rica either way to qualify, so a loss tonight isn't the end of the world.

Anyway, in terms of team selection, I'd have Sturridge and Lambert up front, with a diamond behind them of Sterling, Lallana, Henderson and Gerrard. I'd like to drop Johnson but there's nobody better to take his place.
 
Well Rooney starts - but at least he is in his proper position.

I'm praying for us to score in the first minute so watching the game doesn't give me a brain haemorrhage.
