3 Hot Internet Marketing Trends in 2013
1. Design
The design of your website is arguably the most important aspect, as you may have great content and be ranked number 1 on google but if your design looks like pac man then your bounce rate will be sky high. Have a look at some of the big dogs like Apple and you will see they don't have that many different products but the design and usability is really smooth and easy. You can glide through the site effortlessly and thats what great design is. I predict that in 2013 design will be a major player within Internet Marketing, the sites that will thrive will be the ones that people will want to share the experience of great design.
If you have built a strong social media platform that is successfully driving traffic to your site then you are in the perfect position to develop a great design that will make the customer want to stay on your site for longer, the longer they stay the more chance there is of a sale. You will need to think outside the box, put yourself in the position of the customer you have just got from Facebook, they have left their comfy smooth and safe environment and wondered onto your website. Now think what would you do if you were faced with a two tone website with blocks of information? I know what I would do turn around and go back to Facebook. Think differently in 2013 with your landing page from your social media mimicking the social media channel, inviting the customer in and showing them that Facebook is not all thats on the net.
2. Marketing visually
2013 will be the year for everything visual, from the increase popularity of sites like Instagram and Pinterest people are sharing globally their photos and posters. This is the time to jump on this bandwagon, introduce some photos to your site as your customers will gain information about your site within a few seconds rather than having to read a load of ?about me? stuff that no one really reads anyway.
Video is another way to give information to your customers as YouTube is still as popular as ever, people will often scroll down your homepage glancing over the content trying to speed read the information to find out what's going on, a video will always be watched and a nice clean animation of what you're selling or what the site is about will encourage the customer to delve deeper into your site as the initial information will have been implanted into their heads already. Remember photos and videos for information will create a better first impression than a load of words.
3. Other platforms
I don't want to bore you with stats but 1.1 billion smartphone users should not be overlooked and that the ipad is the fastest growing technology ever! These platforms will be a must for all successful websites in 2013. Pay attention to how your customer is viewing your site, be it from a home computer, ipad or smartphone
the impression should be the same each time. There is nothing more frustrating than finding a site at home on your 27 inch Mac and wanting to show a friend and when you bring it up on your iPhone it looks like a tab screen or worse none compatible on your iPhone! Trust me it happens. Spend as much time working on your visibility on other platforms and it will pay for itself in the long run.
