EMDs still working for me...?

It's been a long time since I've heard anybody talk about EMDs and I've seen many many people talking about how they don't mean shit anymore, so I decided to do a test. Not going to reveal the name cause I might turn it into something, but the search term gets over 1,300 searches per month on G and it's about a sellable physical item (worth between 60 and $120 depending) and the EMD is very usable (sounds fairly brandable and not stupid grammatically).

I've had it for 2 weeks and I'm already ranking #1 for the EMD keyword. I was actually ranking first before I even finished throwing up a very basic 6 page site, but I'm still there as of today with only 4 backlinks (anchors are the EMD keyword). I'm even ranking over 3 big box stores for this term.

Anybody else still getting results with EMDs?

I don't honestly think they are dead, since I have an EMD site as well It's just not that big of a factor as it used to be.

Yeah, the conversation about their demise is premature at best and without question inaccurate.

The question of: "Do EMDs still work?" is not a yes/no question. They turned down the notch on their authority, so depending on competition and many other factors, yes they will still contribute to a ranking for a keyword.

honestly, I'm in the adult biz, and EMDs work like charm! I only make custom CMS on all my EMD domains no matter if it's a blog, tgp or tube site, but since the system is UNIQUE (seriously, all my systems and sites are written from scratch), google seems to love them! I get my sites rank for the EMD keyword under 3 days.... my tube site is ranking number 5 for the EMD after 7 day... first it was 14, now it's 5...is there anything else to talk about? hail for the EMDs!

if i decide to go with an EMD, if it's really worth it, I never go for the popular scripts such as wordpress... it might work, but I like doing everything differently, just because, why not?

ps. if you do everything the same as 100000 other webmasters, don't expect any luck... be unique, offer unique content and offer the offers like no other site... that's what counts nowadays ( this is totally based on my very own experience!!! )

I think most people usually associated EMD's as one page crappy affiliates sites or atleast very thin sites, so when google slapped them a few years ago, everyone was saying how they no longer work etc. However they do indeed still work very well, I am currently ranking for a very popular UK retailer that is currently ranking #2 for the brand keyword and it's a EMD.

Few days ago I bought a EMD .COM Domain. Its a long tail keyword starts with "How To". I will start Ranking with in few days. But I dont gonna focus only my Keyword. 6600 Exact Search, Competition 48-49 MOZ & Google Test. So hope it will work. I am really Hopeful about it.
