Embeded Videos not Content Locker Proof?

Hi,

I've noticed recently that when you embed a video to your site, say from megavideo, and while the video is playing you click on the video screen then a new window opens up to the original link of the video.
Does anybody know of a way to fix this so that the video won't open a new tab for the original link? I've looked around in this forum and couldn't find anything relative.

The reason why I asked is because I would like to improve my gateway conversions. Let's say I have a movie site and if I put a gateway on a link with no delays then its realistic to say the the conversion would be low rather than delaying it for 1-2 minutes so the visitor acually gets to see the content.
Any help will be appreciated. Thanks! :D

If it's a gateway, why use the real video? Why not just use an image of the video player?

Im not sure what you mean by that. Basically I want to push into a higher conversion rate. If I content lock right away as soon as the page loads there is a high chance that people would just walk away. I'd like them to take the bait so there is minimal turnbacks :p

he wants them to push play and watch the video a lil bit before the content locker pops up.
That's indeed what I'd like to happen.

nope I tried before and came up short, mind you this was a long time ago.
I'm pretty sure this is possible cause there was an embeded video I saw at somones site and clicking the video screen didn't open a new window to the original link, though I can't find it now since it was so long ago when I saw it :(

mmm i see what you mean .. I have a tv site as well with embedded vids and the delayed method with clp2 is wat i was about to do ...

**Will be watching this thread since i know someone on this amazing site will turn up with some tips**

Great! Welcome aboard :)
I'll post some updates if I do figure it out.

Hey, Im currently looking for a niche with tv show, does any of you know how to cancel the new window when they click on the embed?

Thanks!

This is the current crisis that we are trying to solve Penguin.

Invisible div layer over the player which prevents user clicking on player (or part of the player). Might work well on some players which have fixed player controls like 4shared player, you set layer over the player but leave controls out of it.

wouldent work I am thinking cause their is no inital controls and it does not auto play you push click a play button on the video it self for it to play, maybe 4 layer dive overlapping and only exposing the play button it self will play with this idea some time this week see if I come up with anything.

You're talking about Megavideo's player, right?

Hey sorry for my lack of presence, but yes it is possible for this to happen.
I haven't been doing much implementation on this but here are some searches that I've found so far, for those who are still interested.
