I don't know if Google calls customers or not, but I do know they misspelled you're in the email. Could be a scam.

I had calls from them when I was spending 6k a month on adwords, but never for adsense. I would say it probably really was them trying to up sell something.

All this looks quite weird. I still do not understand how can you stop earning if your site is active and you do not remove the adsense banners
Keep us up to date and post what happens

Just go ahead and pick the call. Its for your own benefit. I once picked their call and it made me earn more!!
