Sam Altman is not a developer. He is a businessman, so his goal is quite different from the goal of the scientific core of OpenAI, led by Ilya Sutskever. Originally, OpenAI was really founded by scientists as an open project to help humanity, but later its commercial arm was made... to make money.

Musk is suing them, claiming they switched focus from helping humanity to making money with Microsoft.
