Musk thinks the company has strayed from its original vision of helping humanity.

Elon Musk accuses Chat GPT creators of breach of contract and unsound business practices. Musk believes that Open AI's collaboration with Microsoft has made the company more focused on profit than helping humanity.

At the heart of Musk's lawsuit is the development of GPT 4. Unlike previous GPT variants that were open source, GPT 4's is closed and only available to Open AI—and, according to Musk—even Microsoft. Open AI intends for GPT 4 to become a so-called artificial general intelligence (AGI), which means that it should independently reach the same cognitive level as a human.

Musk believes that the source code for GPT 4 is closed because Microsoft can earn large sums by selling the technology instead. The billionaire claims it goes against Open AI's previous promises to develop public AI technology for the public. He also wants to see an injunction banning Open AI and Microsoft from making money from AGI technology.

Open AI once created a non-profit structure that has now been replaced by a CEO driven entirely by profit interests and a board of directors with inferior technical expertise in AGI and public AI policy. The board now has an observer role reserved for Microsoft. - Elon Musk

Musk himself was a member of Open AI's board until 2018. According to him, the blame for Open AI's development lies primarily with CEO Sam Altman, who is accused in the lawsuit with board chairman Gregory Brockman.

It's a surprisingly well thought of argument by Elon Musk, and even one that makes sense.

Can't wait to see how he messes this up.
 
He did it because of Microsoft. He cried for 1 week on Twitter that he can't install Windows 11 without an account anymore
 
He claims, It was meant to be non-profit. My ask is, How would they have sustained the massive heavy usage when it blew up

i am not a lawyer, but, isn’t all software that use gpl licensed software modules opensource too? Enlighten me please (seriously).

I guess twitter uses java right? Did they code everything themselves? How can I see if twitter did not use my OS contribution!? Really curious if anyone has some official info on this.

No but seriously, this is a thing I have wondered for a while, specifically since noobs are now using ai to code. This should make software licensing even crazier. I know this is offtopic, but I couldn’t resist mentioning it since I want to know more about it. If there’s someone knowledgeable here, please chime in!!
 
Good. OpenAI has good products but it's washed with Woke ideology and it's frankly annoying. Glad to see that someones calling them out on it and taking action. Hope Musk wins this. Make this shit opensource so we can eventually have proper decentralized AI

We won't see level of AI that will let us add professional, fantasy like effects to videos.

Look at professional music videos, high budget movies from Hollywood. AI won't do even one quality effect on my video like that added by a pro editor.

It's just impossible for AI to reach this level of precision, especially on this ideology from business analysts (scammers / corrupted mfers) of Microsoft.

It will stagnate like everything else. Hahaha

Existential truth is that everything gets stagnant. Everything.
 
elon musk is a crazy guy. But maybe in this situation he maybe right. After all, OpenAI does not give the slightest hint about their software due to commercial concerns.
