I have heard and read that Elance is a great place to work as a freelancer, and make good money to start up with, but on the basic account, you can only apply for 10 jobs per month??

Is there any other way to make money other than posting on peoples jobs? Even for the top account, you can only apply for 60 jobs!!

Yeah Odesk lets you apply for a lot more. But, I think Elance is better because it is more professional. You really have to make those few proposals count.

Personally I find O-desk better, but that is just my opinion. There is also a thread on this forum that lists all the best places to make money from writing.

I work with elance and i have no problems with it. Just buy more credits man. the cost per credit is somewhat around 50cents so if you bid for 10 jobs before getting a client you spend $5. That's dirt cheap in my opinion.

To be honest I never found good enough programmers in Elance, not even with a "Featured" project I mean it seems like a joke to me (at least for the bigger projects).

Yes, i understand you have to buy more credits to make more money, but on the writing projects there are about 20 applicants so you could use your 60 credits per month and never get a job!!
