Effect of Lightboxes on SEO

Has anyone seen anything lately on the effect of lightboxes and SEO? The lightbox text is in the html but I can't see if it's helping or hindering SEO efforts.

I've taken over a site that uses lightboxes to show more info for products when user clicks the photo. The page has 20 different products, so lots of 'hidden' text

If anyone has recent info they could share, that would be great.

If the content is shown in the source code and needs a user interaction such as a click in your example, it shouldn't really be a problem,
also, for a better SEO, you can use both the lightbox (optional) and proper alt tags (that's a must) to ensure Google will get it the right way
