    Hello,

Just looking for some advice on doing the SEO on an eCommerce website. The main problem we are having is that we only sell second hand goods so each item we list (150 a week) a unique listing. Right now all the content is duplicated from manufactures websites and doesn't stay online for more than 2 weeks. Its only a matter of time before Google starts to penalise this reckless behaviour.

    Any thoughts/suggestions would be great.

    Cheers

So start ranking category pages, rather than specific item pages. Or, start writing unique descriptions for each item that you list for 2 weeks...and alter the descriptions once this item is replaced with a new one. Or, do both - recommended.

Duplicate descriptions are quite common around eCommerce website. Google won't penalize your domain for that, but your pages are unlikely to rank. However, if you create a page that sits online for 2 weeks only, I wouldn't worry about organic search traffic to that page anyways.

Do your original content and on page SEO on "Large cat trees" category page, rather than "80 inch supernova cat tree model 873" (if this tree is only going to be available for 2 weeks on your site).

Duplicate content is usual on such websites. Write some unique content for your product. It will help you.

Duplicate description may be common but have at least some form of unique content to supplement it. What is not recommended is to have 100% duplicate content across your website.

Don't past same content, but try to remove plagiarism from products content, try little changes in products description, if you will improve the content then you will not face any issue.
