Hi guys and gals,

Just wondering whether anyone has any experience with tax collection on an international eCommerce site? I live in Canada but my domains are hosted in the US and most of my income comes from US customers. I should mention that I am not incorporated and do not have my business name registered.

Who do I charge sales tax to? People living in my home province in Canada? People in an arbitrary US state I select to be the home of my "US" business? Something else altogether?

I am inexperienced in this so any advice/help would be greatly appreciated!

Thanks

Also, is there a place where I could find this information online?

You need to pay tax where you have your back account. If you live in canada you should pay tax to Canadian govt.,. No need to mention where your customers from. You can apply like "home based business" or "freelance". But i am not sure about that. Better consult a tax expert in your area. You can get more info from "Canada Revenue Agency" (google it).
