Ecommerce - Blog-article pages ranking higher than home pages

Hey guy,

Im launching a new ecomm site. I've noticed that my competitors rank well top keywords but only irrelevant pages, not the actual product page or home page. Their blogs and articles rank high, and then they have anchor texts that bring the customer back to the home page to buy their products. My guess is that although its driving traffic, its definitely not the best way to convert.

I don't want to fall into this issue as well. Any suggestions.

Than don't do it. They are probably using those anchors thinking that GOogle will give them some insane amount of credit. Even if, that will hurt your conversions. Conversions first, SEO second.
