Ebook advice

I've decided to write an ebook, similar to a self improvement book but with some personal touch to it.

I just need some advice on certain aspects like how long the ebook should be and how to market it. I'm definitely thinking of putting it up on Amazon but would also like to sell it privately.

I'll be using Word to write the ebook, so I guess only marketing it will be an issue.

If you want it to sell and you're truly providing great content instead of filler material at least 30 pages. Have you made a plan to market as for getting people that matter to give their opinion (reviews), targeting and things as such? If not you'll be leaving a lot of money on the table.

I'm providing good content I believe with some humorous parts in the book. It is quite original. Not the best plan as I'm thinking of that after I get the book done, I'm aiming for at least 100 pages or something lesser.

Im thinking of getting a site up for the book, a blog to drive traffic too. And then add it on Amazon. It may not get buyers but worth a shot. I just started with the book, so still a long way to go.

You could always throw it on clickbank and let affiliates worry about the promotion. Yeah, you have to share some of the profit but worth it if you don't want to worry about promoting it yourself.

As far as a template goes I doubt there is one, or even a need for one. Just think about how eBooks or real books are structured and do that.

Quick introduction (toss some crap in here about why you are the expert)
Table of contents (use anchors to link sections so readers can jump around as needed)
Chapter content
Wrap it all up in a final chapter with next steps to take

That was my initial idea with the format lol, yeah I'd get to that when I'm done with the book.
 
For sure. Focus on the content first and make sure you provide as much value as possible without being repetitive (unless needed). If you notice you're typing content as a filler then rethink the section and how it can be improved.

Also, in the intro don't overly do it with the why I'm the expert stuff. You already made the sale if they're reading it so just reaffirm that they made the right choice and why...then dive right into the "real" content.

Thanks for the advice, Im thinking of not including an introduction page. I've seen many ebooks that don't have one though. Just an "about the author" page would be better I think
 
Yeah that's what I meant...sorry for not being more clear on that. I've formatted mine that way as well, and I do think it's clean way to express your expertise without being a damn salesman lol.

I feel like a product like that would have a very high refund rate. I would be incredibly pissed off by a one page eBook.

Yeah, if you're trying to push polished MMO turds. I'm selling two ebooks right now for $25 (one page) and $40 (two page) and I've never had a refund request. Why? The purchaser knows up front that it's a one page ebook as they're part of an upsell of a service I offer.

Mine will actually be a book, like nothing dealin with marketing, I just want to have a book to my name, yes it will solve some issues I guess.
 
How long does your competition have their books? Just curious

This was what I did when I was writing my fitness e books. Get ideas from what others have already done then do your own version.
 
you should check how long ebooks your competitors sells.. but I wouldnt buy it if it hadn't ~100 pages bro for sure
