I just started my own e-commerce ventures. What I had trouble with was legalizing the business and creating an official LLC. It was basically a headache but necessary for a startup
NOTE: This was only trouble because I was low on funds, and I'm not going to get a loan for this right now because of current financial problems.
Getting a supplier was also a pain in the neck, but worth it because I got great prices from the supplier I chose after cycling and researching through countless suppliers. The site was easy to optimize because of e-commerce scripts so that wasn't hard. Lack of traffic is the hardest part, but I am currently finding unique ways to drive extremely targetted visitors. All in all, I have busted my balls this month to create a site that is currently selling two high priced products a day (about $20 profits daily), and I am proud of it. E-Commerce was a headache compared to eBay, but I got lucky because I totally skipped doing hard keyword research.
Just my 2cents.
