Ebay Policy Violation - consequences ?

Hey peeps, I sell some stuff on eGay and am wanting to try and achieve the beautiful, elusive and much desired 'Top Rated Seller' status. I have reached the required sold value threshold, but am 70 transactions away from getting to 100. I recently got the message: After reviewing your eGay account, it appears that you have violated eGay's Trademark Violation - Unauthorized Item Policy. (Turns out the manufacturer reported me to eGay and my listing got removed)

Now I have 2 questions -

1. Are 'they' going to keep an eye on me now? I have listed another 'fake' item, but it is by a different manufacturer. I have sold a few of these already with no problem at all. (the ones i got reported for were the first ones I listed by that particular brand).

2. Will this policy violation affect my aims in becoming a Top Rated Seller?

(I know selling fakes is a pretty terrible idea, but I mix it with legit stuff too and my customers seem happy).

I got loads of these when I was selling a digital product. I sold about 50-60 and only got a few listings removed with a similar message to yours but one time I did get my account suspended from selling for a week. Following that I listed a few more and some got removed so I just gave up on that product. There were no serious consequences and my eBay account works fine. I find if you want to sell something that you think may be reported to make it a quick sale so you will stay under the radar.

Nah..there is nothing special about that "Top Rated Seller"..it just the other words for "Monitored eGay Sellers"..

The replies are much appreciated. I figured the TRS status was pretty sweet because of the best match priority and final value fee discount, not to mention the shiny lil badge. Guess you would be monitored a bit more though? :O

It helps increase consumer confidence which drives larger conversions and confidence in your store ect.

I would be careful selling fakes, it is illegal, ebay wont come after you (other then shutting your account down) but the lawman may.
