Ebay Extortion

I get emails from my ebay accounts like that, so all l do is to send them a nice email explaining my costs and then l go and use a plr product l get from the forums and send it as an unannouced gift with a value of 97usd, it normally heads off any trouble and sometimes results in more sales, at the worst what can they say when you have given them far more worth than the shipping costs.

Extortion is the new way of doing business on ebay. I know a number of people who have stopped selling on ebay because of this very reason.

My brother-in-law's brother was making a nice living selling on ebay when he stopped. He told me the extortion had just gotten unbelievable. He would sell items for $100 and then get an email from the person saying they wanted $85 back and were keeping the item, and if they didn't get it they would complain to paypal and leave negative feedback (and this was when you could still leave negative feedback for a buyer).

Paypal doesn't give a shit about the seller, they refund to the buyers for any reason without an investigation at all. That leaves the buyer with the item and a complete refund and the poor seller is out cold. I considered going back to ebay to sell like I used to, but I am glad I did not do it.

I sold on ebay for years, from the very beginning, and it was amazing what some of the buyers would pull, not to mention competitors. One woman I had to report to the authorities because of the harassment I received from her. Threats on my life through email etc. Thats a federal offense, its over the phone lines. All because UPS put one of the boxes on her porch instead of carrying it through the door for her. Finally once I got the authorities involved I never heard from that bitch again.

Another guy had his paypal account frozen when ebay took over paypal. There is $8000 sitting in his account still that he cannot get to. They claimed in the past he had sold antique firearms (when it was allowed on ebay) which they do no longer allow so they froze his account. He has tried everything but no luck.

As far as suing, just go to small claims court, pay the $25 fee to file suit, sue for actual costs and damages up to the limit of the small claims court, they are not going to show up, you will win by default. Collect the judgment and then have a judgment collector find their bank accounts and have the bank take it out, totally legal. The judgment collector will get a percentage, 50% or so and you'll have that money back plus whatever you sued for.

'...Well it has pretty much all been said here but if it were me, rather than whine about the cost of getting in my car and the gas to drive to the Post Office, which sounds pretty amateurish, regardless if you are a one-man operation, I would simply explain, nicely, that all orders are processed by your warehouse/shipping department and that the costs involved are for staff specially trained in packaging, their salaries, actual packaging materials which can be anything from padded bags to boxes and wrapping paper etc. and that your minimum handling charge is $4.95 so they actually got their postage free. Then tell them to f*ck off!'

I'm not 100% positive, but........Isn't it your right to charge shipping & handling. And if it your s & h fee is stated in the auction then the buyer has no right to complain. If it is not stated in the auction, then just take the bad feedback and give the buyer bad feedback in return.
I've seen sellers charge WAY more for shipping movies and cd's so I wouldn't worry about it too much.

Yes, I agree. The shipping should be $.79 and the handling of the cd should be the other $4.16. You should not absorb the cost of shipping and packaging!

That is why shippers charge not just for shipping, but for handling as well!

this is why 1) I do NOT use Ebay and 2) use Kunaki...Kunaki is great as my server is not hammered serving Gigs of Vids and Audios, AND as I am using a 3rd party? there can be no issue with the shipping and handling as I can PROVE (if necessary) what getting the CD/DVD out to them costs.

this guys is a tool for giving you a hard time, and Ebay should be taking a closer look at these 'critiques'...as it is far too easy to give a person a bad rep for just no really solid reason.

ebay dont give a shit, blah blah blah

Since this post has popped up this is what I always say to poeple who buy of me and complain about postage fees, the fees do not just cover the postage they cover me packing it up, they cover envolopes etc and any packaging that may go in side or whatever and they pay for my time in doing all this, if they think my postage is too high then I tell them good luck in finding the product elsewhere, but usually the stuff I am selling is very hard for them to find online so it's either me or nothing lol, I am not being mean but I am taking time out to offer them this service.

this is exactly the types of asshole buyers you should get used to on ebay and now sellers cant leave a negative feedback and they know that

I had one bloke a week a go, told me that if I didn't reduce my postage I was going to receive negative feedback so I wouldn't be paid for the purchase luckly I hadn't sent the product out, told him I had informed him ebay of his blackmail and told him that I was going to have no dealings with him in the future, removed the BIN I had created for him, 2 minutes later received an email back from him with a massive apology and trying to explain how he wasn't trying to blackmail me and blah blah, at which point he was told it was too late and the deed had been done. I have never heard from him since.

Exactly, monkee, it covers everything...

thing to do is mention your postage in your auctions, say if they think its overcharged then dont bid.

to take someone to the cival courts here in the uk takes lots of time and loadsa fookin money..... which aint worth it
