Short answer: Yes.

Long answer: If you have an audience you can technically pull it off, but it'll cost you credibility and start up capital to maintain advertisements. Put your effort and time into something else, it'll net you more in the long run.

I think it is a professional model that will never die. You just need to know marketing. If you tell us which platforms you are trying to sell on, we can help you. I did it for a long time and damn it really pays off. But right now I'm in different business models.

Be ready to lose money
Focus on ads. Thats the first thing to start
Follow your competitors closely
Never resort to organic unless you atleast hit 1000$ in monthly profit.

those of you who’ve been in dropshipping what are you in to now?
 
No Drop shipping is not dead but it requires efforts and patience to get the source of the traffic, if you want results in short term, then it is dead.

what is the good traffic source to start with?
 
I don't think it's dead. Just that it's tougher now because there is huge competition so it's all about marketing your dropshipping business.
