Let's say I am scraping content from Website A.
Then I am putting that content on Website B with canonical tag.
Is there any chance that Website B can outrank website A?

What do you think guys?

What is meant by canonical tag? From my experience, any website even 100% duplicate content scraped from someone, can outrank the original source (except major authority sites like Google for "Chrome" for example). Just need more backlinks and other black hat ranking methods.

Really good question, saw once another guy in here said this was working, maybe try it and tell us the result? :anyway:

I tested it a few months ago. Didn’t work out for me. Maybe you should try to deindex the source also.

There shouldn't be.

The purpose of the canonical tag is to tell Google that any credit for the page on Website B should be given to the page on Website A.
