Duplicate content on Ecommerce site

If you're talking about direct mail as in physical mail (post), yes that works out really good. However I'm in a 'shady' niche and it would create a lot of upset or perhaps offended people when I'll be dropping my folders in their mailboxes. I do however advertise in niche related magazines, which are bringing me shitloads of orders. We're here on BHW mostly for the online part, that we're staring ourselves blind at that and how to gain the most from the web. However I'm convinced that if you take a step back and overlook things - combined with thoughts about how people in your niche used to run their businesses before this whole Internet thing... You'll be seeing some very nice opportunities and if turned the right way, will work out maybe even better than trying to obtain sales over the Internet.

Yes, exactly! I say the same thing.

Yeah another effective strategy that we run and that has proven results is to utalise what you already have... previous customer details.

Send all your customers an email telling them about all the new exciting stuff your doing. Also there are some cool wordpress plugins (we use woocommerce) that can really help with this. There is one that send periodic emails after order. i.e. 24hrs later, you should have received your product. After a week send something like "have you enjoyed your product", come back and review it for a discount etc

If you need the plugin names then let me know but they are on the woocommerce website.... not even sure what commerce software your using but i like woocommerce!

EDIT: Just thought, also an effective strategy we also use is to have a form where people can request a hard copy categlog of our products (supplier supplies this) and we post it manually to them. The oldies always like having something they can flick through and it certainly increased the average order value! Hope you can apply some of these to your business!

My next job is to create a micro niche webiste to showcase a certain range of our products and use SAPE to dominate the serps for it as long as SAPE if effective! Ill let you know how this one goes if you remind me in a month or so! We've developed our woocommerce so if someone orders through the micro site the orders filter and get processed through the main site witha prefix on the order number so you know which website it has come from. Next stage after this is to develop pre-made sites that we can offer to our affiliates which will hopefully grow those numbers too!

I have wanted to do this for a while but I already have so many websites that I can't keep track of. Add in making jewelry, shipping it, customer service, taking jewelry pics and editing in photoshop, handling social media, seo and all the programs that go with that, doing the websites by hand, and taking care of the sites/blogs in my little network, there is no time left. So I come on bhw to escape my life for a few minutes. lol But I want some micro niche jewelry sites. I really need help. I can't do everything I want to by myself.

Thesiege84, thank you so much. I really needed that kind of pep talk. I have been at the point where I stare at things not knowing what to do first because there is so much to do, and then I go on fb or come on bhw to escape the overwhelming feelings. Your fiverr idea is awesome. I am going to start that today and find some people that way. I am glad that you told me you couldn't do it all on your own. I needed to hear that because it makes me see that I don't have to be super woman. It's okay to keep looking for people to help me.

Your very welcome, pm your skype ID and maybe we can talk further if you want to :)

One of my stores has over 1100 products with the manufactures' stock photos and descriptions, and it ranks higher than any competitors for most keywords. There are only so many ways you can rewrite the description for a green gizmo. I wouldn't worry about it too much.

If you are worried about duplicate content, rewrite the descriptions for your highest selling products first and work your way down.

I think google recognizes ecommerce sites and ranks them differently than other sites like blogs. I never had trouble with dupe content on ecommerce sites but blogs are a whole other story.

Just my $0.02,
Cheers!
