There's a good chance your wholesale company is just a middle man after a middle man. Do you think they will jump through hoops to order more inventory for you when you order it when their contacts are out of stock, or will pay their cut when another actual supplier wants more money for the same item due to the price inflation in China? People on eBay get pissed when you tell them their item is out of stock. The only way I've ever fought that is by offering an exchange on an item of higher value. Sometimes this doesn't even work.
Also, dropshipping never gives you something really good, called "buying power" when you say "Ill buy 1" you get the base price usually set by someone else. When you say "I'll buy 60" - people make stuff happen for a cheap price when you've got more than a couple dollars involved. This increase your profits, and because on eBay, the more you sell the more you can make if you become something like a TRS, the more sustainable your business becomes. Shipping gets cheaper too!
I made a lot of money doing it the way your talking about doing it. I'm not going to lie, in the end, it was because I was able to change from a dropshipping mindset to a wholesaler and retail mindset. It's extremely stressful, go look on eBay right now for some sellers from Hong Kong or China with more than 2000 feedback and save them, check up on them every week, won't be long until they themselves are suspended because they can't get the dropshipping model to work even though they are happy with very little profit (even for a lot of work), and very direct connections to suppliers and factories. This is why I know more than most about creating and maintaining new accounts.
