Dropshipping from 1688.com - Complete guide in progress

Is it cheaper than aliexpress, eBay ...?
Thanks for post OP.
Welcome.

Thanks for this good guide bro. I have a few question.
1. Can we also do 1688 to Ebay dropship (or any other eCommerce) or is it limited to 1688 to Aliexpress?
2. Do you have to bulk purchase the product from 1688 before you sell it on Aliexpress or you can just buy it when some customer order from your Aliexpress store?
3. How much is the estimated monthly expense for this thing to work? You know..

Do you think on 1688 is a better price than on Alibaba? I heard some "Manufactures" on Alibaba are also only dropshipping from 1688 with a higher price.
As per my observe, Alibaba require buy in bulk, and price in USD, basiclly sell to "Foreigner" and definately is "Foreigner"'s price.

Wheres 1688 is main audience is "Local" and definately "Local"'s price.

as what I had compared, the Alibaba seller contact me, the pricing they offer me is equal to the price I sell here, and they tell me is the best price they offer.
If you know how to write in mandari, you get more advantage because 1688's seller majority is not english speaking seller. They can't communicate in english and once you message them in english, most ignore you

Well, Thank OP
This kind of course are selling thousand in my country, teach seller how to source from 1688.

website is not opening with me

Have never experienced problems accessing the site, regardless of IP location, so don't know what might be the problem.
Which country are you accessing from?

1. Not sure what you mean. This guide is meant for people currently dropshipping FROM Aliexpress or similar. Not to Aliexpress.
2. Many products can be bought one at a time. More on this to come
3. Have no way of answering this accurately, and don't know what you mean by expense. Product purchase expenses?

Your right, roughly speaking.
There is alot to cover on the subject on sourcing in China in general. After this posting schedule, I might start diving in to some other subject.
I am not surprised that courses are being sold on the subject of 1688.
I want to give it out for free. The low hanging fruits will stay hanging for a good while, so by all means take advantage. But in the end it will be the smartest who come out on top. With this guide I hope to give the opportunity for these talents to engage, so that, in the end, we will have better quality on the whole thing..
I

Thank you to all who have liked, replied or asked questions!

I won't be posting part 3 today, but will be back tomorrow with a post on how to pay suppliers, and how to communicate efficiently.
Take care

After clicking register only the top nav bar is translated and the rest in Chinese and messed up. There is also no 'English' button?

Oops, my bad. I was on the 1688 site at the start, not the Taobao!

How can you pay on Taobao? They only support Alipay. For Alipay you need a Chinese address and a a Chinese bank account. When they talk about "International" or "overseas" they only refer to Taiwan, Hong Kong etc, not USA or Europe

Will be addressed in part 3 :)

Part 3

I want to preface this by saying that the following is meant only to show some potential ways of paying suppiers. I have done some testing, but you will have to do your own due diligence as well. Also, I welcome all questions, but before asking, please take a look on the outline of the posting schedule to see if your question is going to be adressed in a later post:) Thank you!

Download the chinese Alipay App. Newest official releases can be found on Alipay.com, but you might not be able to download the Chinese version from there. I have uploaded APK here: Iphone users can change their App store location to China, and install. Open App and login. Same account as Taobao and 1688. They are all subsidiaries of Alibaba group and are integrated.

You have now logged in to your alipay account. If it is Chinese do the following to change language:

Alipay home page in English.. You can have a look around..

At this stage your wallet is not activated for transfers and payments yet. You'll need to go through a verification process. Unfortunately I forgot to get screenshots of this process. It's like this: Click on "Go to Verification". Choose the "Face ID verification" You will then be asked to Enter full name, passport number and passport expiry date. Next you will have a photo taken of your face. Last step is taking a photo of your Passport. Your account will then be verified. This is automatic and takes around 10 min.

Next you need to get money into the account. Without a Chinese bank account, you can only use the "balance" function. For small amounts there are websites which will let you top of the account using credit card. Or you can swap Paypal to Alipay with a Chinese person. Look through the forum. There are ways to do this...

E711j-10.jpg

The proper way is probably to verify first as shown before, but I actually did it the other way around. Transfered money to account first. To have the transfer deposited, I was prompted verify. Same procedure as previously described.

Until you have linked a bank card(for which you need to travel to China for bank account opening) your account will be limited. I am still testing the exact limits in practical use..

E711j-12.jpg

To test the account i went to tmall.com and bought something. Paid with the the 100 CNY sent to my new account, which was now available to spend.

E711j-13.jpg

Confirmation of successful payment. Note that bank account has not been linked. Something that many people think is necessary.. Here I show, that it is NOT the case.

E711j-14.jpg

Next, I transfered CNY 1 to other Alipay account, confirming that the "transfer" function was active. And then, since I wanted to test purchasing on 1688, i added some more funds to the account

E711j-15.jpg

I then went on to test if it would work on 1688. With the new Alipay account (same as the one I registered on taobao for the purpose of this guide) ,I then successfully used some of the funds in balance to pay for 42 pairs of socks.

Wanting to test Alipays automatic security measures, I transferred between accounts consecutively in a very short time frame. Doing this a few times, my new account has already been limited, and needs to go through a manual check to be reopened. No cause for alarm, It was expected, and this is standard for all payment solutions. Just a reminder to take the precautions you would with other platforms such as paypal etc..

E711j-19.jpg

In any case, I just wanted to show you that it is possible to open an Alipay account, and use it for payments on Taobao and 1688. If you take care not to use too many different IP's, or do something like I did to alarm their security algorithms, you will most likely be able to use Alipay up until their limits of CNY 10.000 per transaction, and 50.000 per month. These limits will be removed when you are able to open a Chinese bank account. But that is a subject for another time! For now, Alipay should just be used to test the waters. Make a test order with the supplier.. Stuff like that... If you have already made a small order it will be much easier when negotiating the real deal..And if you are able to get a Chinese bank account, Alipay is amazing! But.. For a long term payment solution for those unable to open Chinese bank account..:....Introducing sendwyre.com

I'm not really sure how it works, but they use the blockchain to tfacilitate transfers to Chinese bank accounts. My clients and I have made hundreds of transfers to chinese bank accounts. All completed and received by beneficary within 2 hours. I am not using affiliate links, and will not earn anything by you onboarding with them. Their services has been invaluable in the last few years, so I just want to let you know of their existence.
The onboarding process is a bit slow, they take KYC seriously, but once verified, everything is extremely smooth and easy. Both individuals and companies may apply. Once verified funds can be added to account as shown:

Once funds are in Wyre account, payments to the suppliers account are made by sending a payment request to Wyre, with a CSV sheet attached as shown. In 100 payments, it has never taken more than 24 hours to reach the bank account of beneficiary. Batch payments could be linked to the order fulfillment CSV's, which we will go through in a later post.

Upon completion of transfer you will receive confirmation email. Status will also be available on dashboard..

That's it for today. Thank you for reading! There are many things not adressed in these posts, and, surely many questions left unanswered. Please be patient. When I finish with the items in the posting schedule, we can easily evaluate which subjects need further explanation. Take care

Currently we can only verify users in the U.S., but we hope to expand to other regions soon!

So wyre cannot be used for people outside of USA?

I am from Denmark. Had no problems onboarding.. that was 2017, however, so things might have changed.. Is this stated on their website, or did you ask customer service? Thx
