I never used amazon as an affiliate but i had an account from 2006, total inactive until now. I decided to give it a try so i selected few items and started to design the autoblog site that i would put them.

Few days after that and to be more specific, yesterday i got a message that the account closed and after asking the support dept. i got the reply :

"Your account is in a closed status because our records indicate that you have not earned any advertising fees in the past three years, and have an account balance that has not been paid due to missing information or an insufficient balance which is required for the "pay by check" payment method.

In accordance with the Operating Agreement, any account that has not earned advertising fees in the past three years is subject to a $10 maintenance fee. As no action was taken, please be aware that your account balance could be subject to escheatment under State unclaimed property laws. Depending on your State of residence, you may receive a letter from Amazon.com regarding your account balance if it is deemed unclaimed.

In addition, your account will remained closed. If you would like to continue with the Associates Program you will need to reapply for a new account. Below you will find a link so you may reapply to our program by clicking the "Join Now for FREE," button"

I don't want to campaign or anything, i just found it weird and i posted here for others to read
