Make your forum postings informative, engaging and authoritative. People will naturally here more about what you have to say. You can also say something like "I wrote an article about???" people will naturally seek it out.

Never be spammy, nobody likes spams or reading spams, even if your info is of top-quality.
Then again, if your info was top-quality and that you were a huge contributor to the forums and used the appropriate links a moderate amount of times, and you kept in mind that "Post links works 100x as much as signature links.", you would be getting a huge chunk more traffic to your blog...just don't give up

if your going the forum route become a contributing member. Its very hard to try and leach traffic off of a forum when nobody knows who you are.

I'm a newbie, but I am curious. If you set up with someone like EmpowerNetwork (yes I am on there network, no I am not fishing for downline) that say they do all of the SEO for you, would it not be worth the cost to set up with them, get the free SEO and the other extras, and then promote any product/idea you would like? Then make whatever residuals on the side that come along.... Wouldn't this become a win win? or am I missing the point? If I am sorry
