Has anyone tried using dragon naturally speaking with youtube? What I meant is that instead of using your own voice, we use a video on youtube that has somebody talking and blast it on our microphone. Will it work?

Correct me if i am wrong but that software is use for speech to text. You talk it types...
I've heard/seen some videos with those robotic voices it sucks royally, you'd hardly convert with them.

I think the OP means playing the Youtube video into a microphone and then seeing if Dragon Naturally Speaking types the words out. I've never used it before but if the audio is clear enough I don't see why it wouldn't work - it won't know the difference between your voice and someone else's in a video.

As said by masterat40, what i meant was playing the youtube video into the microphone. So we have the video to do the talking. Sorry for being unclear mate! :D

That's what i'm planning to do man. If it works, that will be great!

Why not try it? It's creative but Dragon has this whole setup where the software gets itself used to your voice and your pronunciations and enunciations. So if you do the setup and then use a different voice from a YouTube video, you'll probably get a lot of errors.
Still, it could be better to just edit a long piece of text and make it make sense than writing something from scratch.
I think it's a decent option to transcribe a video.

I tried that back in the day with no success but perhaps with the new Dragon it may work. I have 12.5 but only use it for dictation.

Give it a run, OP, I'd like to hear that you were successful and benefited from it.

As long as the accent is clear (and in English), it might work. Then use a program to sort out the spelling mistakes.

It won't work very well. You have to "train" to properly recognize the way you talk, which you can't obviously do with a youtube video. You will have better results using headphones and "parroting" what you hear to the mic, instead of feeding youtube sound directly to the software.

Ahh i used to make blogposts using this method. Ive tried it with a different software and it worked quite well except for some mistakes but never tried dragon natural speaking. I heard its the best around

That's what i heard too. I'll probably try it and do some corrections if there's a lot of errors. Thanks coreyvf!

Here is a 500+ word article, created and edited in 6 minutes using Dragon Naturally Speaking 11. This was done after completing about 40 minutes speech training (using the "Dilbert" text included) using a decent microphone (an "Angela" headset). . I can't keep this pace up, but 4000 - 5000 words an hour really is very simple. I take a Dictaphone out with me when I go for a walk (alone I might add) then plug it in when I get back for a few thousand words. Some of it is only good for link fodder, but it's all original. (I've mentioned this many times before - nothing new here)
