Hi,

I have a quick question, a client of mine gave me his Envato(Themeforest) credentials and asked me to update his Wordpress theme. However, i noticed in his accounts many plugins and themes that i found quite useful.

So as you probably guessed, i entend to download them and use them someday for my own purpose. That been said, if i download all the items he bought, is there a way for him to know, to be notified?

I want to be sure if start downloading that he won't receive any mails or suspect anything!!

If anyone is sure about this, please let me know !

Thank you

As @GoTRooT said, it might turn to you. Aside from that, if you use those without taking the license, it would make no harm to the client, but it will harm the seller (which is same that you would get a nulled version). Do it on your own risk, I don't recommend it!

Give me those credentials. I will check and tell you whether it's harmful or not.

Why don't you just ask your client if you can download it or not? He may let you download some items that don't need api or license keys.

No.

I'm not gonna take the license, i just want the files, i don't want to harm the client. As for the seller he already made over 6000 sales so he's good :anyway: All though i know that not registering the license will result on not receiving any future updates, and that's fine with me !

As for the suggestion of using the nulled version, you do know that there is always some malicious code running in the code, so that's a big risk for the website.

I've decided finally not to do it and never think about it ever again, as it can compromises with my client's online installed items, and from the ethical aspect i should not even think about it. The client trusted me so i should be trustworthy !

Thank you all for helping me realize this !

I highly recommend paying 15 bucks a month for an envato elements accounts, it has lots of wordpress themes and a shiload of other amazing stuff, and they add thousands of new stuff every week, so for all the things you get, 15 buck a month is a steal, seriously...

Sure if you only need a wordpress theme but if you need, images, stock videos, sounds effects, music, shopify themes, psd templates, etc...Then better have an officiel account where you receive a license with all the sutff you download so if there is a problem one day you can just show the license that proves that you indeed paid for this item :)

That sounds like a great idea! Thanks !

However, i was just checked envato elements, if i subscribe for only one month, can i download as many themes and get out afterwards ?

Also, it seems like the themes are not updated like in Themeforest, here check this one, it's tested up to 4.9.8 wp

yes you could but in that case you will lose the right to use the license they give you with each download (it's not really useful by itself it's just like an insurance that if someone asks you where did you get this theme and do you have the right to use you can say, "yes i do sir, look at this license" ;D) but yes you could.

Oh and yes unfortunately not all themes are up to date.

@Festinger got you covered already, check his thread here and ask for a review copy, u can download a lot of good themes though. (14 day trial))

To be honest, themeforest looks like a dead pool now, more than half themes have no updates since wordpress 5.0, so you have not that many choices to choose from there, I suggest try mythemeshop ones, or free themes in WP repository.

Wow, that's what i just did. I asked and he agreed, he was kind with his response to my request. I'm amazed and ashamed at the same time that i even thought about such a thing !

I appreciate the valuable advices. Thank you guys !
