well, it is the easiest way to say that I did something wrong too.
I got about 20 websites. 5 of them were on the same GWMT account. On 2 of them I builded backlinks.
It is obvious that they just penalized all of the websites in that GWMT account. The other 15 websites who were not in that account are absolutely fine. All the websites are on the same webhosting, some of the domains are from the same domain provider.

Maybe you misunderstand. I am not blaming google for penalizing my websites. Maybe ONE of them was penalized because of bad or spammy links, but GWMT just penalized the other 3 websites which had no backlinks in purpose mate.

No matter if you enter your site in your WMT or not, the data is there for Google. Sometimes when I add sites weeks and months after they were created, the data and messages were already in the WMT for the past time, so if you don't add your site to WMT you just don't see it, but Google sees it.
 
This is true, if one site gets fuked they will hit the other sites in that GWMT account.

Dont link more than 1 website to a GWMT account if your doing blackhat stuff on a site
 
Well simply create 1 GWT for each of your websites, like everyone else...
 
I never used that tool for any of my sites ^.^

When did you get hit with the thin content penalty?
 
I had 2 websites get de-indexed last week for 'pure spam' both in the same GWMT account. I wasn't angry, it was a good call on Google's part.

Well to make this clear: GWMT DID not penalized your websites, Google did WITH the help of GWMT. By definition this is a tool, nothing more than that.

And those backlinks for THAT website I'm sure they were crap. So, as far as I can see you've made 2 big mistakes:

1. Building crappy backlinks.
2. Linking more than 1 website/ GWMT account.

Of course you can add as many websites as you want in ur account, but if you use BH techniques keep no more than 1.

You have to learn from these mistakes ;)
 
I just got my site hit wit a 'thin content' manual penalty too. I did not even use GWMT. With or without they can still find and penalize you.
 
I got a penalty for 'pure spam' on a site today.

It was a site that I deleted from GWMT about a year ago, but the message still showed up in that account today. I didn't realise that they would still be tracking it after I deleted it.
 
Thanks for the heads up OP. Now every newbie knows not to link more than one website per GWMT account.
 
I never use GWT, Matt is a bitch.
 
GWMT is not made for Blackhat guys.. If you do your best to keep your site as white hat as possible, then GWMT is recommendable
 
Almost everywhere on SEO forums you will find people advising you against adding all your sites on a single wmt account.
 
Its kinda a stupid move to add more then one site on one GWMT. Everything else you have done just doesn't matter ( the separate hosting, the whois protection, etc ) when you made the newbiest mistake you can make.
