Just read this...sorry for your loss, it's weird you was so brave to jump with $15k for a first time!
Almost all sellers on flippa provide fake or scam setup schemes (like your case)...
Why someone will sell site making money almost on autopilot with low costs?
Usual silly answers are:
- don't have time (WTF?!?!?) to manage site and get easy money, so sell

- I'm planning new project (which I don't know if will profit, but anyway sell current profitable project)
As you see - common sense...
Every seller avoid simple question "why you sell profitable site"...
AS WITH LITERALLY ANY MARKETPLACE ON EARTH, there are scammers on Flippa, but to say that "almost all sellers on Flippa provide fake or scam setup schemes" is just plain wrong, misleading, and insulting to those who actively sell legitimate profitable sites on Flippa. If you know what you are doing, and you know how to perform due diligence (
which the buyer in this case clearly did not), there are a multitude of legitimate opportunities on Flippa. Actually, contrary to popular belief, Flippa is largely a buyer's market.
While they do not actively police every single listing, which would not be feasible considering the tens of thousands of live listings on the site, they do require that sellers provide proof of all revenue and traffic claims. If a seller fails to provide proof of traffic or revenue claims or provides proof that is clearly fraudulent, buyers can simply report the auction and Flippa's marketplace integrity team will review it. This is a big reason why sites with verified Google Analytics and verified AdSense tend to sell well, and that is because, this data is pulled directly from an independently verified source. But again, it is ultimately up to the buyer to analyze and determine the legitimacy of any proof of traffic or revenue claims that the seller provides.
I really have no sympathy for the OP in this case. He was careless, or at the very least severely misinformed and inadequately prepared to take on a purchase of this magnitude. Nothing against the OP, we all start somewhere - he just decided to start with a massive $15,000 bet and it clearly did not turn out in his favor. In short, going all in blind for $15,000 on a site with a single revenue source and niche that OP admits he knew almost nothing about beforehand is not an advisable acquisition strategy, it's a gamble.
Also, suggesting that there are no legitimate reasons to sell a profitable site is just as ridiculous as your other statement. There are literally an infinite number of reasons why someone would want to flip a profitable site. If you have ever owned a profitable site or profitable business, you would know that this is, without a doubt, the case. That said, admittedly, buying a website on Flippa or anywhere else for that matter is often a lot like buying a used car. It's possible to find a used car with great value, but often part of the value is hidden behind repairs or challenges that must be overcome before that value can be realized. A keen mechanic is able to see the value in an otherwise flawless car that needs new brakes, because he knows how to fix them. And, just like the owner of that used car is not going to make the busted brake system a selling point, neither is the seller of a website on Flippa. It's up to the buyer to perform due diligence, uncover the issues, assess the risks, and decide whether it is a viable opportunity.
