Don't make this mistake on flippa

Sorry for your loss mate but i think this is the basic check one should do before buying any site or taking overany biz
But anyways lesson learnt and will be a lesson for others too
thanks for post

Some people actually make tons of money off multiple sites bought from flippa. They actually call the person tho to verify. Also Google Hangouts gives you the ability to do screen sharing before you buy a site. But I guess there will always be clever scammers lol.

i saw many people trying to sell crappy sites.sorry for your lost bro.

Feel very sorry about your situation, Mate!

But it definitely help other people to stay cautious regarding this kind of fraud.

Thanks for your sharing.

Just read this...sorry for your loss, it's weird you was so brave to jump with $15k for a first time!
Almost all sellers on flippa provide fake or scam setup schemes (like your case)...
Why someone will sell site making money almost on autopilot with low costs?
Usual silly answers are:
- don't have time (WTF?!?!?) to manage site and get easy money, so sell :)
- I'm planning new project (which I don't know if will profit, but anyway sell current profitable project) :)

As you see - common sense...
Every seller avoid simple question "why you sell profitable site"...

Flippa needs better filters for weeding out junk.
I wouldn't have expected a $12k site to be a scam though.
Press on and keep going forward man.

Instead of spending 12k for a site making near 2k a month, you should have invested that money on many authority sites from bhw with lots of traffic.
That will save you some money and can bring you much more revenue than your site.

AS WITH LITERALLY ANY MARKETPLACE ON EARTH, there are scammers on Flippa, but to say that "almost all sellers on Flippa provide fake or scam setup schemes" is just plain wrong, misleading, and insulting to those who actively sell legitimate profitable sites on Flippa. If you know what you are doing, and you know how to perform due diligence (which the buyer in this case clearly did not), there are a multitude of legitimate opportunities on Flippa. Actually, contrary to popular belief, Flippa is largely a buyer's market.

While they do not actively police every single listing, which would not be feasible considering the tens of thousands of live listings on the site, they do require that sellers provide proof of all revenue and traffic claims. If a seller fails to provide proof of traffic or revenue claims or provides proof that is clearly fraudulent, buyers can simply report the auction and Flippa's marketplace integrity team will review it. This is a big reason why sites with verified Google Analytics and verified AdSense tend to sell well, and that is because, this data is pulled directly from an independently verified source. But again, it is ultimately up to the buyer to analyze and determine the legitimacy of any proof of traffic or revenue claims that the seller provides.

I really have no sympathy for the OP in this case. He was careless, or at the very least severely misinformed and inadequately prepared to take on a purchase of this magnitude. Nothing against the OP, we all start somewhere - he just decided to start with a massive $15,000 bet and it clearly did not turn out in his favor. In short, going all in blind for $15,000 on a site with a single revenue source and niche that OP admits he knew almost nothing about beforehand is not an advisable acquisition strategy, it's a gamble.

Also, suggesting that there are no legitimate reasons to sell a profitable site is just as ridiculous as your other statement. There are literally an infinite number of reasons why someone would want to flip a profitable site. If you have ever owned a profitable site or profitable business, you would know that this is, without a doubt, the case. That said, admittedly, buying a website on Flippa or anywhere else for that matter is often a lot like buying a used car. It's possible to find a used car with great value, but often part of the value is hidden behind repairs or challenges that must be overcome before that value can be realized. A keen mechanic is able to see the value in an otherwise flawless car that needs new brakes, because he knows how to fix them. And, just like the owner of that used car is not going to make the busted brake system a selling point, neither is the seller of a website on Flippa. It's up to the buyer to perform due diligence, uncover the issues, assess the risks, and decide whether it is a viable opportunity.

Unfortunately it happens quite a lot, in fact most first time buyers lose money on flippa. However if you take the time to learn how to do proper due diligence and research, how to verify stats and how to maintain the sites later it can help create an excellent source of income.
The most common and costliest mistake buyers on flippa make and not taking the extra steps to compare and verify the revenue claims and traffic sources. It's not very hard to learn, how that takes persistence. (Shameless plug - I teach this, for free, go over to domainmagnate.com and sign up for the newsletter if you're interested).

The most common pitfalls are usually short term traffic (either bought or incentivized) and faked stats, carefully checking the stats and site history can usually help identify these.

I'm sorry for your loss mate but atleast you are making back something. Some people cant even do that lol

Feel so sorry for your situation, Mate!

But thanks for sharing - as this can save many.

You must be always careful while playing with flippa.

i hear more and more people getting scammed on flippa, i stay far far away
it's not that bad overall, you just have to be careful and do proper due diligence when buying, like you would in any other place. Also stay away from the sites that look too good to be true, at very low revenue multiples.

Well that was a good lessen for me, i will be care full while flipping sites.

I guess sites that are selling a service, leads whatever aren't a guarantee since there are third parties involved. If it's just adsense, adx, etc. then the sales are based on traffic and not on an agreement with a third party.

Flippa really has strange ways to make money from its users. Too bad they don't filter more the sales.

This is the way Flippa functions: people are scamming people and Flippa is earning commissions...

Cheers
