If I had the time to dedicate to this I would say I pitch the leads and we split the money moving forward, but I don't. However, why not take this idea and post a JV where someone who likes getting on the phone tries to find a buyer for the leads. You may not want to give money away but remember 50% of nothing, which you currently have, is nothing.

Lawyers are good many makers, maybe your approach was not the best. Maybe your sales letter. But really think about it, he has a good gig with a lawyer, why he would sell it? That's were your answer is. But like in any business, their is always a risk.

up until this point, I have monetise all of my sites from either adsense or click bank so this was my first run at lead generation. I assumed that if someone was selling a site on flippa that was lead generation that it would continue after the sell. But then again, I was working with a person and not a company that specialises in lead gen so, yea..

lesson #4

When dealing with lead gen, make sure its a company thats buying them and not a person where they can just get up and leave at any moment..

Now a days we are seeing a lot of scams going on in Flippa,
Seller shows paypal payment which can be fake even if shown live... and even clickbank and all....

Only adsense Monetized sites are the best as we can verify everything very easily...

TBH I see most of the websites fake the traffic and revenues these days on Flippa.

There is some great sites of course. I think Flippa should make the verification even more strict. This will reduce the incidents like this.

I agree with you and what you say is pretty much correct. I think they are more adamant on collecting success fee from sellers so they deliberately let these shady listing go on.

But you might end up making your situation even worse depending on what moves you make from here on out regarding your new site.

Here's why, humans will spend 500x more effort trying to reclaim lost profits, then going out and finding new profit.

Read that sentence above 3 times. Nearly all humans are guilty of this.

Next: Some of the advice above, is excellent, some is questionable at best.

Pather28 was just being kind. You spent 15k on a site that makes just over zero. That's not good. But know this: Every single dude above me has also been burned tons of times as well. I've been stung too. Sometimes we get burned and it's totally out of our control, sometimes we could have avoided the sting.

Here's why your next moves are very important. In your first post, you mentioned you don't want to reveal the site you bought.

I understand this feeling, but it can lead you to bigger problems. Here's why: I knew in the first 3 seconds of reading your post exactly what happened. So did many others who read your post.

The lead buyer did not disappear - the lead buyer never existed in the first place.

If any of us were sitting beside you when you were about to make the purchase, we could have saved you 15k. Easily.

And the same group of us, would have given you the advice for free.

So, this means, pm a bunch of us, and ask for advice. Give out your web address. You need a rational, smart, non-emotional plan going forward.

Maybe you can monetize it, or maybe you need to ignore altogether. If you pm 5 guys on this thread showing them your site asking for total confidentiality, nobody will violate your wishes.

If you don't show anyone your site, absolutely nobody on this planet is qualified to give you expert advice. Nobody!

You need a few opinions before you make a bad situation worse.

Btw, I'm new to posting at BHW, but I'm not new to making money online.

With all the respect man (i feel your pain) i don't think that the lesson learnt here is to make sure there are more than one revenue streams. Next time, be a lot more suspect of everything and anything, whether that's the number of revenue streams or not..

the lesson , I guess you should learn , isn't never buying a site with 1 source of income, the lesson is never buy a site from flippa, period!

This confirm, for the umpteenth time, that on Flippa there are too much fake sites.
There are many factors that can mislead an expert, let alone one beginners.
I think it's hard for Flippa checking all sites in deep but, unfortunately, stories like this are repeated almost every day.
Today I bought a PR5 site for 80USD but I think it's scam (I tried, maybe I will be luck )
After that story I'm thinking about closing my account on Flippa.

Damn OP, $12,000 is quite the defecit. Personally I would never use Flippa, I'd rather work my ass off building my own site.

That one guy may have been the same seller of the site. He buys from himself to make the website look good.
Its a method often used on Google Play store and itunes.

I guess 10 X monthly is the norm at flippa. But who knows ?

Will keep in mind OP. Thanks for the heads-up. People definitely need to do their own due-diligence before buying any high-ticket sites from flippa. Good chances of getting scammed there unless you know what you're doing.
