A lot of people stick to one method of monetization because it is working and that is not always best to do.

Adsense is good and converts very well for a lot of people.. CPA, CJ, CB, Amazon, Infolinks, etc all do as well for many people.

I generate some nice revenue from those listed above and periodically experiment to see what will work better even if I was making a nice buck before hand.

I did some testing on a few sites and I'll share the results with you here. Bear in mind my sites are almost all business, finance and employment related and I am not going to be real specific as to which actual niches I made adjustments to nor will I share the offers I use so please do not ask.

#1 Site - Originally was monetized using adsense only and was making a nice 3K a month for most months with a drop off in December due to the Holiday season. It is only about 300 pages (UVs about 1500 a day) and is an html site so it took a bit of manual labor to switch it up but I took adsense off of all the pages and found a couple of offers from CJ that seemed to fit the site.

Revenue is now in the 4K range for that site on a monthly basis and I was even contacted via telephone from the entity that manages those offers congratulating me. They also told me I was in a drawing for an iPad as I was one of the top 10 earners for that offer. I believe that I as in a drawing because they did not send me an email with a CPA offer... something that EVERYONE of you would have done.

#2 Site - Originally monetized with Answers.com and some CPA offers and generated a nice 110.00 - 125.00 a day Monday - Friday and a little less than half on the weekends. It is a WP site with close to 2,000 pages and gets in the neighborhood of 800 - 900 UVs a day. Answers.com was not converting that well even though the ad placement was what I consider to be the premier ad placement on the site.

I pulled Answers off put a CPA offer up in it's place and added in infolinks as well. Sometimes infolinks can look a little spammy so it is not usually something I put on my sites but one has to experiment in the IM industry to be successful generally.

To my surprise, infolinks does a very nice job converting and I am getting some nice revenue from it. The CPA offer in place of Answers is also a better revenue generator and that site is a consistent 175.00 - 190.00 a day Monday - Friday with about 1/2 that on the weekends still.

I am not saying that CJ is better than adsense and that CPA us better than Answers nor am I saying run to infolinks and put that on your sites.

What I am saying is to try different things on your sites even if they are producing nicely as that is one of the ways you can increase your revenue.

Get out of that box and mix it up and see if you can bump that revenue to a higher level.

It really shows you that you never boxed in you always have options with your site so if your not making what you expect from adsense try another method but I guess what Greg is talking about is to diversify. Changing up your site, pictures, themes, and the way your ads are displayed, using text links instead of images the sky is the limit but testing is the only way to get results. Funny you created this topic as one of my sites I am going to do some tweaking on. Rep given!

I will switch up the revenue generating methods on a site of mine (I think you know which one) when we get over the fold. Like you say, I think I will be in for a surprise if I try out correctly chosen CPA offers instead of ad sense.

the money is in the numbers duh what do you expect from 2000 pages

That's great, Greg. Time for me to try some experimenting as well. What do you offer to get people to fill up CPA offers? I tried locking my informational site once and got about 10% I made with PPC ads.

thats why you are successeful, because you have the guts to try

Yeah I experimented once, couldn't sit down for a week....

That is very funny!

Build them big, backlink them properly and you can make a buck at this IM thing.

I just find offers that are in line with the KWs for the sites and they convert... nothing more than that.

Or I have no life and figured it was something to give a run at.

Good post. That said, there's a fine line 'tween experimenting with new ways of making $ and just hopping from method to method! :)

This is s.th. I would keep care on - Especially if one also changes the complete intern linking structure.

Thought if one's site is new, then it's no problem as there are no rankings, which can be affected.

Nevertheless, in the long run even if you change your theme completely, with more and more.. links coming, one will be back.

Very high guts will lead you to success. I will follow this thread :)
