I am very amateur on domaining... I can buy a domain with this characteristics by $500:
PageRank 4 (Strong)
Domain age 3 years (2010)
Domain authority 50
Page authority 45
Backlinks 394302
D0-F0ll ow Backlinks 385466
Pages indexed on Google 518
Facebook likes 26419
Facebook shares 28482
Tweets 2166

All links are real, never did link building. It's a good purchase?

Well the numbers look good, the real question is if the site is ranking at all at the moment. With all the {insert animal here} updates going on, you'll need to make sure that the site you are buying isn't being penalized at the moment.

Well, in the past I've used DomainEstimator to get a value (although it seems a bit inflated)...and it appears their site is down at the moment. It sounds like a great deal to me. Where did you find it?

Is there still value in domains?
I registered some pretty good (going back a few years) domains like enhancementsurgery etc so they are searchable terms without locations. move let quite a few of them expire recently.
mare they worth trying to sell on?

Yes, they work yet. But It is crucial how you implement them in the context of your goals. Sometimes the lowest domain could be more helpful comparing another one with better metrics.
