Will a domain which was previously used by any Government and still have backlinks from other government sites rank well in seo if developed?

That is a solid domain to get your hands on if it is clean.

How could that not be a good domain? Though wouldn't it then be a .gov site? How would you obtain it? And what government agency let's their domain expire in the first place?

I have a friend that was able to get a domain that was used by a government entity from a large city that was a .com.
Apparently there are some out there that are not .gov that had been used by government entities that were/are not .gov for some reason.
In know of a couple that are .org that are used by county entities here in the USA and would love to get my hands on them should they decide to move to a .gov.

The beauty of humans being involved! A lot of local governments do this. Might leave a great opportunity when they make the switch to .gov

Two months ago I got my hands on a .info domain who used to belong to NASA. It was a project they launched in 2010 which ended in late 2016. They let the domain expired and I picked up. Tons of .gov (US, UK, CAD), .edu from all around the world and a shitload of authority links still live.
That being said, the domain did cost me a fortune.

Once got a MS .com domain for $10 lol, but had to give it up due to copyright

Yep, it's clean. I almost forgot I registered it last year. Renewed it for the second year today after getting the GoFather reminder
No, its not a .gov domain. It is one cctld used by the gov for many years till they stopped the project two years ago.

Has links from many government sites of the country which the cctld belongs to but just DA 32 PA 43. What other things should I check?
