Domain selling = mafia?

I remember when I used to be like OP, and then I learned how to be the guy OP describes in this post. If you can't beat them, join them.

I dont think you unterstand. I have nothing against people registering domains and then ACTUALLY USING them, thats everyones business, fine with me.

I just hate on people that buy domains for simple reselling (or parking for ever), thats a sick part of capitalism IMHO

Just like the housing crisis, it's all down to sitting on empty property and waiting for the rise.

Domains now are virtual property - something to be speculated upon. At least with domains, a hobo like me *might* get lucky and buy an asset for peanuts!

I feel like this should not be a thing. That you can sell domains for what ever price you want.

It shouldnt be first come, first served.

I'm trying to start niche sites, but it feels like every niche in this world is oversaturrated, no matter how small the market.

Every domain around it is possesed by some ducking moron, who just pays the 2$ yearly fee and parks the domain for ever and ever and ever
So your point is? Nobody cares what your domain name says, if you can't rank a website for a low keyword, then i think that's the problem

As a hobby domainer I am kinda proud of this thread. Didn't know I was mafia :D

On-topic, I think if you give a domainer an offer he can't refuse on a domain, he'll sell it to you without a doubt.

Lol if it's my property that I paid for and it's valuable you think it's ok for someone to take it away from me just because I'm not developing it and instead holding on to sell because it's valuable, and that you should get it because you want to make your piece of shit site on it?

Sounds like communism to me.

Wow why are all these "Domain sellers = mob" rants popping up? Seriously, it's a business idea (and a bloody good one at that) that's been around since the beginning of the internet.. As soon as some new star/athlete etc pops up people buy the domains, same goes for pretty much every type of new venture etc.

The only reason people are mad about this, is because they didn't have the idea themselves! Oh and btw, these domain mobsters are spending a decent bunch of cash each year just to renew their domains.. so it's like any other investment.

Look, I know we all want moonmoon.com, but with the whole new palette in domains that are dropping each month... who cares anymore?

ICANN should charge $500 for each single domain... it will drops 99% of domains that is registered by those domainers

btw where you can re-new your domain by $2 yearly? the cheapest place i have found is around $8
Are you for real?
in 1 sentence u say that domains shall be charged 500$ and in the very next sentence you asking for cheaper than 8$?????

FYI noone is stopping you from buying domains, be smart and buy first.
i have more than 50 domains which i am using, and more than 40 ready for use....
u think i would buy that amount with 500$ each?
@OP : i have 2 cars also and a bike, shall i give away 1 because u want one of them or someone does not afford it?
i call it capitalism, there are fast movers, smart movers, first movers and observers...... chose where you want to be and take action. there is plenty free space for you to fit somewehere.

Best wishes.
Leobar!

Contact them and buy the domain, or wait for it to expire and purchase it.
Or get the upper hand with the new TLD's. Or you can create your own TLD.

These types of rants are generally from people who are pissed they missed the money making boat and blame everyone else for them not making money. Maybe IM is not for you my man

I recently bought a Browning 12 gauge side by side shotgun, the "coach" gun with the two side hammers.

I bought it because i wanted to own it, and as an investment I believe the value will do nothing but go up.

I do not plan on shooting it much.

Do you think that if I don't use it, someone should take it away from me, and resell it to someone else?

Society already has a system for that called "theft" and "fencing stolen property".

Because that is exactly what you are saying.

Right on OP...while we are at it the government should take all of the money from people that are hard working, forward thinking, and successful...and give it to the lazy pieces of shit that don't want to work.

...oh, wait...

OP i want to help you.
go here and buy the domain you wish https://auctions.godaddy.com/trpItemListing.aspx?&miid=137846520
a good domain, at a good price. you can always resell it or use it or lose your money if no one will buy....
thats the risk every domain encounters. renew for many years and then sell, think of it as he is paying for many years and now you are paying what he have paid for + some cash for him.

Best wishes.
Leobar.

PS. The domain i sent you expires very soon, rush urself or we will see another thread: people are bidding more than me....

It is first come first serve, they just got there first.

ICANN is a problem, though.

People like the free market, until it works against them, then suddenly regulation is necessary. This is why we can't have nice things.

OP, you should run for government. It's dumbasses like you that get in and screw up good systems.

It shouldnt be first come, first served.

What do you propose instead, then? Some type of tax payer funded domain name allocation authority? That doesn't seem very reasonable to me. I think the free market tends to solve these things best when left alone... there's nothing wrong with the current system.

First come, First Serve and Mafia.. Somehow The "connection" eludes me..

It seems very fair that the person who found it first, gets to keep it.
